How Color Auras Work and What They Mean
All things in the universe are in constant motion. Everything vibrates—radiating low levels of electricity at different frequencies. Even you! Right this second, every molecule in your body is oscillating. According to ancient spiritual practices, the speed at which those molecules move defines your color aura.
It’s thought that with a little practice and discipline, you can see your own color aura (as well as the color auras of others). Meditation can be a big help with this, and some people have especially pronounced colors, too. That means some auras are easier to spy than others.
Your full color aura is made up of multiple layers, which are stacked on top of each other like a sedimentary rock. Each layer is colored by one unique shade, but, depending on your dominant energy, one color will shine brighter than others (or, eclipse the others entirely). That’s where your color aura comes from.
Colors are associated with qualities you possess, like a strong will, kind heart, or great mind. Each color is associated with a chakra, too. Chakras are energy centers that radiate in different parts of your body, like your belly, chest, and forehead.
When you’re healthy or capable in a particular way, there is a corresponding chakra that is more powerful. Each color in your aura is directly tied to one chakra. This means that your aura is tied to a color, that color’s personal qualities, a chakra in your body, and finally, an energy over which that chakra rules. We’ve outlined them for you below:
Red : Grounded, energetic, assertive.
- Root chakra : Rules over physical comforts, health, and five senses. Energy radiates from the tailbone or pelvis .
Orange : Adventurous, bright, creative.
- Sacral chakra : Rules over joy, sex, and passion. Energy radiates from the navel .
Yellow : Optimistic, laidback, friendly.
- Solar plexus chakra : Rules over willpower, confidence, and self-esteem. Energy radiates from the lower ribs .
Green : Adaptable, nurturing, social.
- Heart chakra : Rules over love, compassion, connection. Energy radiates from the chest and heart.
Blue : Clear-headed, communicative, honest.
- Throat chakra : Rules over your voice, self-expression, and personal truth. Energy radiates from the neck.
Indigo : Curious, artistic, independent.
- Third eye chakra : Rules over your dreams, intuitions, and instincts. Energy radiates from your forehead, right between your eyes.
