    Depending on your model, the code must be between 4 and 8 digits. Choose a code you’ll remember easily and write it down or store it somewhere safe. [5]

    Most models (traditional and touchscreen) require the Mastercode to be between 4 and 8 digits. For security purposes, do not choose a code that is also in use as a User Code. [20]

    Disassemble the lock and check the cable to make sure that it's not pinched or broken. Then, test the lock off the door to make sure it's functioning before you put it back on. If you change the battery, find the cable in working order, and still can't get the lock to work, it's likely because of a digital failure (something circuit-wise has failed). In that case, you'll need to get it swapped out and replaced.
