The cayo perico heist in GTA Online is a very good way to make money. It nets you around 1-1.5 million each time, with the main draw being that it can be completed in about 1-1.5 hours of work completely solo, so you can do it on your own!

Speak to Miguel Madrazo. Miguel is the son of Martin Madrazo, who you may recognize from the story mode if you played it. Once he messages you, go to the music locker, which is next to the Diamond Casino. Pay the GTA$150 fee to enter and then go to the private suite. This will begin the Cayo Perico heist. Buy a Kostaka. Once you have initiated the opening stages, you can go onto Warstock Cache and Carry and buy a Kostaka. It will cost you GTA$2.2 Million and will allow you to go to Cayo Perico. [2] X Research source
- Optional but recommended: You can buy the sparrow helicopter for GTA$1.8M. While not required for Cayo Perico, it will help massively with the setup missions and in general is a good vehicle for getting around the map, especially if you do not yet have an Oppressor MK2.
- Once the kosatka is brought, you can open your interaction menu, click "service vehicles" and then "kosatka" and then click "request kosatka". This will spawn the kosatka nearby.

Go into the kosatka. This will trigger a cutscene with pavel who will tell you about the heist you are about to do.

Start the gathering intel mission. This will cost GTA$100,000 every time, except the first time, where it is free. [3] X Research source

Start scoping. There are lots to scope, but you must go to the communications tower to scope out the primary target. Make sure you also go to the drainage tunnel. This can be found under the compound under the water. You do not have to take a picture of it. Here are the following primary targets and their value:
- Madrazo Files (first attempt only): GTA$1.1M
- Panther Event (events only): GTA$1.9M (2M on hard)
- Tequila: GTA$900K
- Ruby Necklace: GTA$1.0M
- Bearer Bonds: GTA$1.1M
- Pink Diamond: GTA$1.3M (2M on hard)
- If the game tells you to scope anything else, you must follow the steps. [4] X Research source

Return to Los Santos. You can do this by going back to the airfield, or if it is your second time, dying or being caught by the guards. [5] X Research source

Complete the prep missions. These missions can be completed after returning to Los Santos and are required to play the finale. Your available prep missions will be directly influenced by what you scoped in Gathering Intel. If you completed the gathering intel mission as detailed, you will need to complete the following prep missions:
- Approach Vehicle: Velum - Steal a boat from the police
- Equipment: Safe Code - Only if the Mission Target is in a safe
- Equipment: Plasma Cutter - Only if the Mission Target is in a glass case
- Equipment: Fingerprint Cloner - Stolen from El Rubio's head of security
- Equipment: Cutting Torch - Stolen from a guarded construction site
- Weapon Loadout: Stolen from an armed gang's office.
- If you get the Merryweather mission, feel free to reset to get an easier one.
- In addition, you should buy the suppressors in case you need to kill any guards in the finale. [6] X Research source

Configure the finale. Once all the setup missions are done, you can start the finale. You will be able to configure everything based on the setup missions you did. Select the Velum as the approach method, the drainage tunnel as the entry point, anything as the escape point, and time of day as day.

Begin the finale. Once you have chosen your options, click "start" to begin the finale. [8] X Research source

Head to the airfield. Here you can get secondary targets. Be wary of the guard cones of vision and then head into the hanger. Here you can steal secondary targets for around 300-400k extra money. Once you collect it, head back to your boat. [9] X Research source

Head to the drainage tunnel. It is in the bottom of the map next to the compound. Once you get there, jump into the water, activating the diving equipment by pressing the left button on your controller and then cutting away on the fence with the cutting tool. Then, swim through the tunnel to the end and when prompted enter the compound. [10] X Research source

Take the primary target then escape. First, head straight, then take a left, go past the twin guards, make another left, then right, then wait for the armed guard to leave, then continue and after climbing the fence next to the tower building make a left and hug the wall. When a guard comes, hug the wall before the stair. Then, continue to the office. Take the keycard, open the vault and take the loot. Then, use the fingerprint cloner. A tip with this is to select the top part and then move it for every number before that row, so move row 3 2 times. Once this is done, enter the basement. When you are in the primary room, cut open the gate and either use the plasma cutter or the safe code, depending on your primary target. Afterwards, head out to the exit. Once you are out, kill the guard with the motorbike and take it. Go to the water and start swimming away, being careful to avoid the traps. After a few minutes, you will complete the heist and earn your reward. [11] X Research source
