When flirting over text message, ask him questions that are exciting and move the conversation forward. Jump between different topics so he's interested to continue the conversation.

If a song just came on and that reminded you of him, you can say, "Hey, I'm listening to this song and it made me think of you." Show that interest and that common ground and then it'll make the other person excited as well!

It's okay to use emojis here and there to show that you're lighthearted and fun, but don't overuse them because that'll come off as too eager.
