How do you know if your Wii was made before 2008?

On the model number on the bottom of the Wii, if it starts with LB or LU, it was made in 2006/2007. Anything else is 2008, and cannot read DVD.

It is probably because it is unlicensed, and as the Wii console reads, it detects no license and concludes it is pirated, illegal or an unauthorized game copy.

What is wrong if the screen goes black when I try to load Wii games in the USB loader? It sends me back to the Homebrew channel menu.

Most probably the file is corrupted. Try to load some other game. If it happens with all of your games, then you have to install the USB loader again.
