  • Question
How do you remove socks that have spilled out of the dryer?
    Community Answer
If the socks are stuck in the mechanical parts of the dryer, you may need to contact an appliance repairman to take the dryer apart. If they have simply fallen through into the body of the dryer, however, you can remove the bolts holding the body of the dryer onto the frame and slide it off. You should be able to access the hallow portion of the dryer with the body removed.
  • Question
I am allergic to those static clean clothes used in dryers. Is there any way to clean a dryer that has had those used in the dryer?
    Community Answer
You should be able to remove most allergens from your dryer by simply wiping it out. The dryer does not introduce anything other than heat and air to your clothing in the drying process, so as long as you have eliminated traces of the dryer sheet within the drum, you should be safe.
  • Question
How do I clean a clothes dryer that had wet clothing left in it when I had to leave for an extended time? It smells really sour.
    Community Answer
Wash in vinegar and baking soda. Put white vinegar in the bleach and softener receptacles and add Borax to laundry pods.
  • Question
I put a pair of shoes in my dryer and ran it on high. They melted and made one heck of a mess. I took out the drum and cleaned it and the back of the drum. I also cleaned the lint screen and hose. I ran the dryer on high and it started smoking. What next?
    Community Answer
Just clean your dryer vent hose or tube and let the dryer burn off and exhaust all remaining remnants of debris, smoke, and odor. It'll fix itself if it can breathe well to the outdoors and it won't stink up the house.
