  • Question
How can I free up space on my Gmail account?
    Community Answer
You can go through and delete old emails that you no longer need, delete your spam folder, and delete the emails that have been sitting in your garbage can. If that still doesn't help enough, you can always create a second email address for some of your emails.
  • Question
How do I contact Gmail about email problems?
    Community Answer
They have a support forum: support.google.com/mail. If you still can't resolve your issues, you can contact them using the methods above.
  • Question
What should I do if my password is being rejected?
    Community Answer
First, make sure you're typing the password correctly, and check to ensure that you don't have caps lock on. If that's not helping, then I would reset your password entirely.
  • Question
Before the latest Gmail update, I could hover over the sender and all the previous/earlier emails would show up. How do I easily find those 4-year-old emails now?
    Community Answer
Go to the search bar at the top of Gmail and type in the person's email. Everything they've sent you should show up. If you are looking for more specific emails, there is an advanced search option available by clicking the down arrow on the right end of the search bar.
  • Question
How can I buy extra storage space?
    Community Answer
On the left side of the screen you'll see some options, and near the bottom will be "storage." Underneath that, there's a link to upgrade storage. You have six options, and two ways to pay for the first two.
  • Question
How do I find out who changed my password on my Google account?
    Community Answer
There is no way of finding this out, though you can view your sign-ins on the Account Settings page. All you can do is change your password again and contact Google if you believe your account was hacked.
  • Question
I just set up a new Gmail account, but I had to leave before I received my verification text. My last session is signed out. How do I enter my verification text now?
    Community Answer
You can get a new verification code/text and start again. Or you can make a new account.
  • Question
Are agencies such as the police and private investigators able to request access to private accounts to view and download email without the knowledge of the account holder?
    Community Answer
Police only with a search warrant. Private Investigators cannot.
  • Question
What do I do if my Gmail was hacked and I can't log in?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
Start by looking at your Gmail history. If there was a login that was not you, you can click that it wasn't you. Then, on the sign in page, click forgot password. Hopefully, you set up a recovery email. If not, gmail will send you a code in text via cellphone to get you in. However, a hacker might have changed all or some of your recovery info. As soon as you get back in, change your recovery items immediately.
  • Question
What do I do if it says it's unable to connect using SSL on Gmail?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
SSL is a security certificate. It is a safeguard. All websites should have an up to date security cert. Try using a different browser to log in. However, if it's a Google issue, they typically fix those things fast.
  • Question
How do I contact the president of Google? Can I call them?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
Presidents and CEOs of companies do not publish their phone numbers. The closest you can get (if they take phone calls, which Google does not do) is customer support, which is many layers below the top. Many companies do publish their mailing address, but letters rarely if ever get to the top.
  • Question
What do I do if I get emails to my inbox on Gmail that are not my email ID?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
Report these as Spam. Google Bots will stop those addresses from contacting you.
  • Question
Someone else had an email address with the same first and last name as my family member. I sent them an email to them, but they never responded to me. Is there any way to retrieve emails that were mistakenly sent to that other email address?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
Short answer, no. Email use has expanded dramatically so there are many "look alike" addresses.
  • Question
My Gmail account is showing a sync error. I reset my password but I still can't use the Gmail app. What should I do?
    CageyCat
    Top Answerer
Sync indicates more than 1 device involved in your account, e.g. such as Desktop, Laptop, iPad, iPhone, etc. I would look at those other devices and see if you can de-sync each. Try to sign into gmail after each change, to find the culprit.
