  • Question
Sometimes my current session is shown as being at a location over 30 minutes away from where I am, while past sessions correctly reflect my location. Is this a sign I'm being hacked?
    Community Answer
Mine never shows the exact town I'm in; instead, it registers different nearby towns in my state. The sign in time is always right. The change of address might be due to your internet provider using proxy addresses.

Why does Yahoo show that my account was active somewhere I've not been?
    Community Answer
It's possible that someone in that location logged into your account without authorization.

    Community Answer
In the Sign-In and Security section, select “View your recent sign-in activity,” and your login list will appear. Your login list appears in chronological order and shows the date, time, access type, event and location, though you can change the location section to instead display the device's IP address.
  • Question
I keep getting Yahoo verification codes that I have not requested. All are from Missouri while I am in NJ. I've changed my password, but they persist. Should I be worried?
    Betsy Paulino Reyes
    Community Answer
If you received a verification code via text but didn't create an account or make security changes, then someone else mistyped their number and accidentally used yours. Don't worry, they won't be able to move forward with your mobile number because they don't have possession of your phone to get the verification code.
  • Question
I suspect someone hacked my Yahoo email address about a year ago. How can I see the activity on my account that far back?
    Betsy Paulino Reyes
    Community Answer
Monitoring your recent login activity can help you find out if your account has been accessed by unauthorized users. Learn how to view recent sign-in.
