  • Question
What do I do if my system does not recognize my CD/DVD and it wants me to format it?
    Rudy Toth
    Community Answer
You don't need to format a CD/DVD at all. It doesn't work that way. If you were using a diskette "floppy," then you would need to format that before large capacity usages.
  • Question
How do I check what files are on a DVD RW disc?
    Rudy Toth
    Community Answer
In your Windows 10 menu file directory on the bottom icon (if any), select that to go to your drive assignments. On the left side panel, select with your mouse to open "THIS PC" and below is a list of connected drives. If you have an outboard external drive connected to your computer it is usually labelled as a E:\ drive. Select that drive and it will show you what's on that disc. You might need to write this down for a future reference.
  • Question
The "format" command has disappeared from my computer menu even though I inserted a blank DVD-RW. How to recover the format command?
    Rudy Toth
    Community Answer
You don't need to "format" a blank DVD-RW disc. It is ready to record non-copyright items on the disc. The only devices that need to be format, before use, would be those diskettes. Erase is the word for record over what might be already on that RW disc.
