Can I put some homemade orange juice in my rabbits water bottle to make him drink more?

You can put small amounts (just one or two drops) of orange juice in your rabbits water, but not too much and make sure that it is 100% pure juice. Rabbits can have oranges in moderation.
  • Question
My 2 rabbits haven't been drinking water and seem to be sick. What should I do?
    Community Answer
Rabbits can get hydration from their veggies, but if they seem sick you should take them to a vet. Rabbits should not use water bottles, so also make sure their water is in a bowl.
  • Question
How do I make my bunny drink more?
    Community Answer
Give your bunny a bowl instead of a sipper bottle. Make sure the bowl is always clean; this may help your bunny want to drink more often. If you use a bowl, also add apple or bits of watermelon. The rabbit will try to eat it and drink more in the process
  • Question
My 2 rabbits don't drink water and seem to be sick. What do I do?
    Community Answer
If you have a water container that clips on to the edge of the cage, your rabbits might not know how to use it. Give them a water dish and see if that helps. If they already have a dish, make sure they know what it's for.
  • Question
Is mineral or bottled water best for my bunny?
    Community Answer
Tap water is fine. If your rabbit seems to like either of the other kinds of water, that is okay but will prove costly for you in the long run, so it's better for you to use tap water instead.
  • Question
Is it OK that my rabbit is not in a cage and outside overnight?
    Becca
    Community Answer
No it is not okay. Rabbits are prey animals and should be placed in a secure cage if outside overnight, if not there is a chance your rabbit could be hunted and/or run away.
  • Question
My rabbit hasn't drunk water since birth, is he fine?
    Community Answer
First your rabbit would have had its mother's milk. Later, some rabbits do not need water as they get it through the moisture present in fresh veggies. It's also possible your rabbit is drinking, just not when you notice.
  • Question
I found 4 baby rabbits in the yard in direct sun when it was 106. I provided shade. Did that scare the mother off. How can I be sure she is coming back?

The mother rabbit shouldn't be too scared as long as you provided shade in a safe way. Rabbits like to hide under things anyways, so a bit of shade may actually provide both the mom and babies with a safer nesting place.
  • Question
My rabbit doesn’t drink enough water and we don’t feed her veggies. Should I put some 100% apple juice in her water bottle to encourage her since I can’t tell if she spills or drinks from her dish?

    Top Answerer
That would be a good idea! Just put a little bit of apple juice in. Don't add a lot. Continue to monitor this. You could always start with a little bit more apple juice and then slowly add less and less as your rabbit continues to drink more. Side note: You probably should be feeding your rabbit some fresh veggies. This can help with hydration as well as giving your bunny a healthier diet.
