Plants are a great choice to add dimension, color, and a part of nature to your home. In terms of actual placement of plants, I really recommend putting plants and flowers on an entryway table. They look very nice in a little nook in the stairwell corner when you walk into a space, for example. Bathroom ledges are also a great option. Of course, in terms of placement of real plants, putting them by windows is always going to be ideal.

For a living room den, I really love adding a nice high pile rug. I usually recommend choosing an oversized rug, as a lot of people get rugs for their living rooms that are really too small. When you get the correct size, the high pile makes it really thick and cushy, and will immediately make the space more inviting. It will also bring softness to the space, because of the texture.
  • Question
How could I create a den that will last for more than a season?
    Holly Dounson
    Community Answer
Create your den in a place with plenty of space, and where you won't need to take it down.
  • Question
How do I persuade my parents to make it?
    Community Answer
Tell them your purpose of the den, and the reasons why you want to make the den. If they're still not convinced, act very responsible for the next few days, and maybe they'll change their minds.
  • Question
    What if I don't have space/chairs?
    Forest
    Community Answer
If you don't have chairs or space ask a parent for help. You can ask them if you can use a big open space and if you don't have chairs use pillows, umbrellas, etc. Then you can use blankets and if you don't have enough heavy items like books you can be creative.
  • Question
How do I make a den inside for people?
    Community Answer
Move some furniture to create a big, open space. Place some tall chairs so they are the size of the den you want. Take some large blankets and put them on top of the chairs to make a roof.
  • Question
How would you make an outdoor family den, or is it just the same?
    Holly Dounson
    Community Answer
It would be the same, but you may not want to use electronics. Follow the second or third method, and combine them to get what you need.
  • Question
How can I make my den a bit wacky?
    Community Answer
You could include decorations that don't seem to match the rest of the decorations. For example, you could put something from a sports team in a princess den, or something princess themed in a sports den.
  • Question
What should I put in my den?
    Community Answer
You could put anything in your den! I would recommend a light, some books, some pillows and blankets, and maybe a few snacks.
  • Question
How do I make a den while camping?
    Community Answer
If it is an outdoor den, you would find some wood about a meter and a half tall and you would lean it against a tree. Put the longest piece leaning against the tree, then add the smaller ones touching the longer one and the floor, but remember to leave space to get in and out. If you're bringing a tent, you can just use that as your den and decorate it however you want.
  • Question
How can I make a fort?
    Community Answer
You can use umbrellas, chairs and stools and put blankets and sheets over them.
  • Question
I have claustrophobia (fear of small spaces), how can I make a den?
    Community Answer
Make your den bigger than usual. Space the chairs farther apart and use a very large blanket or sheet. You can even keep one side of the den open if you want.
  • Question
What if this is too hard and no one can help me?
    Community Answer
If you want to do a really simple version, all you have to do is gather 3-4 chairs and drape a big blanket or sheet over them.
  • Question
What can I do to get rid of deep, dark circles under my eyes that still looks natural?
    Community Answer
    Use a lightweight concealer.
  • Question
Can I use lots of pegs?
    Holly Dounson
    Community Answer
Yes, as long as they are strong and you know they will be able to hold up the roof.
  • Question
How and where could I make a massive den with only one blanket?
    Holly Dounson
    Community Answer
You could make it anywhere you want, as long as there is space. To make it, just read the instructions above, but perhaps use less furniture.
