You can, but you have to keep your dryer on a low heat setting. To make things easier, split the hair into sections and blow dry them one by one.

For sure! It's a great idea to apply some leave-in conditioner after your wig dries off completely.
  • Question
What if I don't know what kind of wig I have?

Try using a comb (I used one that was made for human hair, but it wasn't used before) and wet it with warm water. I had a short wig so it was a bit easier. But what I did was I used that wet comb and started at the bottom layer without having to put the hair in a bun and whatnot. I combed it out, but the edges were flipped outwards (again, I had about a shoulder-length wig so it was already like that. If you have a longer wig it most likely will not do this). I slowly made my way up to the roots, and it was pretty straightened. Now, I used my wig for a Terezi Pyrope cosplay so it didn't need to be too straightened, but I would definitely recommend this method.
  • Question
I have a synthetic heat-resistant wig that flips up on the ends. Can I change it to turn under?
    Community Answer
Of course! Just make sure that you don't use a heat setting above 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Question
My hair straightener doesn't have a heat range option. What should I do?
    Community Answer
Go over the small section of hair only once. This will decrease the chances of burning or damaging the wig. If you really don’t want to take any risks, you'll need to buy a new straightener.
  • Question
Can I straighten my wig hair with a hair dryer?
    Community Answer
I'd use a straightener on low heat, but if that's not possible, then a hair dryer is good too. It has to be used on low heat though.
  • Question
How can I make a fairly curly Kanekalon synthetic into loose waves?
    Community Answer
Spray it with warm water instead of soaking it in hot water and then let it dry.
  • Question
How do I keep a synthetic from shedding?
    Community Answer
I personally use either hair spray or dry shampoo. Alas, that will make them hard and crunchy. You can also use a hot glue gun at the start of some strands. AVOID the extremely hot glue guns, because that could make the hair fall off.
  • Question
What if I got the hair wet and then brushed it, then put the wig in the dryer? Would that work? What do you recommend?
    Community Answer
If you put it in the dryer, it could melt and/or get super tangled. I recommend using a fan to dry it or a hair dryer on a cool setting.
  • Question
If I wash my personal brush, can I use it?
    Community Answer
Yes, but make sure not to pull too hard. If you wear wigs often, you may want to consider getting a comb just for your wigs.
  • Question
What if I don't have a Styrofoam head?
    Community Answer
Investing in one would be a good idea. They're really useful, and they're very inexpensive.
  • Question
Does the wig return to its original style after a while (like real hair) or are the effects permanent? Which method stays the longest?
    Community Answer
Yes, the wig will eventually turn back to the regular state. If you have a heat resistant wig, I suggest using a straightener, but if you don't then just use a hair dryer.
  • Question
Can I dye or straighten a synthetic wig that isn't heat resistant?
    Community Answer
Usually you can't dye a synthetic wig because the fibers will reject the dye. If careful, you can try to straighten the wig on low heat. See the instructions above for doing that.
  • Question
What do I do if I have dirt in my synthetic wig?
    Community Answer
You can gently wash it with warm water and soap, then let it air dry or use a hairdryer on low heat then brush it when it’s dry. If there’s a ton of dirt in it, try to shake or brush out as much as you can before washing.
