  • Question
I had a stud put in but its not a starter one. Is this okay?
    Community Answer
It is fine, because it will keep the hole open. You should keep it in for a while to make sure it stays open.
  • Question
My stud is like enclosed in my nose. How do I stretch the hole open more to put my hoop back in?
    Community Answer
Twist the stud until it comes out, then clean out the piercing. If it closes up, you will have to get it repierced.
  • Question
I got my ears pierced with a gun 12 years ago and one more single piercing not in cartilage about 5 years ago. How I should I go about getting them to fit a 16 as that seems to be the most popular size?

    Community Answer
Use stretching tape. It stretches the piercing safely and you won't have to buy tons of new jewelry.
  • Question
Is it okay to take out a cartilage earring while cleaning it?
    Community Answer
Yes, but only occasionally. You should wash your piercing with soap and water in the shower daily, but make sure not to twist the piercing, touch it without washing your hands, or clean it too deeply. If there is a large build-up of pus, then it is okay to take out the earring. Otherwise, leave it alone and let your body do the healing.
  • Question
I have a piercing on my nose that I want to expand a wee bit to fit thicker jewelry. What's the best way to do this?
    Community Answer
I recommend the same method as ear stretching, like using tapers. If it's a nostril piercing, spiral tapers may work better.
  • Question
My piercings are too small for surgical-steel earrings. Do these methods work?
    Community Answer
No. You might have to buy different and/or bigger ones to stretch your piercings.
  • Question
Where can I get the best stud earrings?
    Community Answer
There are renowned jewelry brands, look at those first. Check out their ads, you can find them online on their websites, and social media pages. If a reputable jeweler is locally available, visit the store to check out the earrings in person. Ask for their advice to help.
