    Expert Answer
It is possible to use chrome powder on regular nail polish, but it might chip ore easily. Use gel polish for a longer-lasting look.

Yes, that's where you put the powder.
  • Question

    Community Answer

  • Question
How do I use eye shadow or glitter on nails?

Do your nails like normal and let a shiny top coat dry completely. Use your finger or a sponge tip applicator and rub the eye shadow on your nails and apply another glossy top coat. You could take 6 hours of your life to do a glitter placement. You could also dip a wet nail in glitter and gently press it down with your finger, but you'd have to use a gel top coat over it because it's too bumpy for a regular top coat.
  • Question
What is the best Top-Coat to use? Mine always takes the effect away and just makes it look like a glitter polish.
    Community Answer
I use Sally Hansen Instant Dry because it works really well (prevents nails from chipping) and it's clear.
  • Question
So I have to use the LED light?
    Community Answer
Yes, it is best to use the LED light.
  • Question
What if I do not have the LED light?
    Community Answer
You need an LED light, because it helps nuke the nails. It's essential for the mirror powder nails to settle and be firm.
  • Question
When using gel, do I wipe off the sticky residue after I cure the gel before I apply the metal powder?
    Community Answer
No, if there is sticky residue, put it in the cure light again, then apply the metal powder.
  • Question
What strength of LED light should I use?
    Community Answer
It depends on the brand of nail polish. Check the brand's website for that information, but usually a 36W bulb is recommended.
  • Question
Does this work on dip powder nails?
    Community Answer
No, it will likely not be effective on dip powder nails. You would have to try another method for it to be successful.
  • Question

    Community Answer
The base coat is for under nail polish and usually repairs the nail enamel, while the top coat is stronger and tougher, aimed towards preventing scuffing and breakage.
  • Question
When I used a gel topcoat, I lost the mirror effect and it looked glittery. Also, the powder did not stick very well. Kept coming off when using the applicator.
    Kristin McLellan
    Community Answer
That may be the type of polish you are using. Try using a different one. You also may not have waited long enough for the polish to dry. It also depends on the type of glitter you are using.
  • Question
How to remove mirror polish from nails?
    Community Answer
Use oil enriched acetone and soak your nails in it, just as you would do with gel nail polish.
  • Question
Does the dust powder work on matte nail polish?
    Community Answer
A popular way to make your nail polish matte is by mixing it with a powder of some kind.
  • Question
Why does my UV gel top coat take the effect away and turn it back to glitter-look? We tried a no-wipe style and it wrinkled my polish, so not a fan of those either. Any suggestions on a UV topcoat?
    Community Answer
It sounds like the gel-polish is not fully cured. It is also possible that you are applying the gel-polish too thickly. When gel-polish is applied too heavily, the UV light cannot penetrate through the entire layer to cure it properly. Uncured gel-polish can cause the top coat to dull and also get wiped away with cleanser.
