Unlike an Instagram Story, a Highlight does not have a time limit and will stay on your profile until you remove it. You can save Highlights from your own profile using the Instagram app, or you can download Stories and Highlights shared by others using a third-party website. This wikiHow teaches you how to save either your own or someone else's Instagram Highlights on your iPhone, iPad, Android, or computer.
Quick Story Saving Steps
Navigate to one of your Highlights you want to save. Tap and hold it, and then select Convert to Reel . Tap the Share (airplane) icon underneath the new Reel. Scroll to the right and tap Download .

Tap the profile icon. It's the outline of a person at the bottom-right corner. This opens your profile. Your current Highlights appear below your bio near the top of the page. [1] X Research source

Tap the + New icon. It's inside of a circle below your username and bio. This displays all of your archived Stories.Advertisement

Tap a Story to select it. You can also select multiple Stories by tapping on them. A blue checkmark appears in the top-right corner of the Story thumbnail to indicate it is selected.

Tap Next . This is in the top-right corner of your screen.

Type a name for your Highlights album (optional). If you don't type anything, the default name is "Highlights".

Edit the Highlights cover (optional). You can tap Edit cover to change the appearance of the cover image.
- You can move or crop the current cover or select a new image from your device's gallery. Tap Done when you're finished.

Tap Add . You'll see this at the top-right corner. Your created Highlight will show under your username and bio.
- If you want to delete a Highlight, long-press the Highlight on your profile. Tap Delete highlight , and then Delete .

Tap the profile icon. It's the outline of a person at the bottom-right corner. This opens your profile. Your current Highlights appear below your bio near the top of the page.
- Since you can't directly download your Highlights, you must first convert it to a Reel and then download it.

Long-press the Highlight you want to save. This will be underneath your bio. A pop-up menu will open.

Tap Convert to reel . This is in the middle of the menu.

Tap Skip . This will skip any additional edits. If you want to add edits, add them now and tap Next .
- Once you skip, you'll see a preview of your Highlight turned Reel.

Tap Next . This is the blue button at the bottom-right corner. The Share screen will open.
- If you don't want others to see your Highlight/Reel, tap Audience and set it to Close Friends . You can temporarily remove your current Close Friends and add them back later.

Tap Share . This will post the Reel to your profile.

Tap the Share button on the post. This is the airplane button.
- The new Reel should be on your feed. Pull down the screen to refresh it if necessary.
- Alternatively, find your Reel on your profile. Tap the Reels tab, and then tap the Reel. Then, tap the airplane icon.

Scroll to the far right and tap Download . This icon will be in the list of apps at the bottom of the Share menu. You'll need to tap and drag the first few apps towards the left to find it.
- The Highlight will be saved to your device's gallery.
- The Share menu may open automatically after it downloads; tap the X to close it or use it to send a copy of the Highlight file elsewhere.
- Repeat these steps for all other Highlights you want to save.

Click Download . If the Instagram account is public, you will see a list of all their Stories and Highlights. If the account is private, you'll see an error page instead. You can then use either option provided to download from that account.

Choose a Story/Highlight to download. It will be highlighted.

Select a video download size. All videos, no matter the size, will download as an mp4. The selected video will open in a new tab.
