Even so, there are still some things you can work on to be even more charismatic. Here are some tips to amp up your charm:

What Is Charisma?

According to Cambridge, charisma is “a special quality that some people have naturally that makes them able to influence other people and attract their attention and admiration.” [1] In other words, charisma is charm. Those who have charisma are incredibly confident and magnetizing. Charismatic individuals are usually positive, empathetic, and friendly. They’re natural-born leaders who can easily influence others without the means to manipulate. Above all, they’re individuals people are drawn to follow and listen to.

Some argue that charisma is something people are born with, while others believe it’s a trait that can be learned and cultivated. So, how does one become charismatic?

  • Work on your confidence. The more self-confident you are, the more self-assured and approachable you’ll seem.
  • Make eye contact when talking with others. This helps them seem included in the conversation.
  • Actively listen to others. Even when you’re not talking, make a point to show that you’re engaged in the conversation.
  • Use open body language. Avoid crossing your arms or turning away from people when you talk to them.
  • Remember people’s names. This helps people feel included and important.
  • Compliment and praise others. Focus on lifting people up, no matter what!
