If there's one thing you may have noticed that's unique about Fallout: New Vegas, it is probably the reputations you can earn with individual settlements. Goodsprings, the quaint town you start the game in, is only one of many, but this article will teach you how to effectively reach the highest stage of respect: "Idolized".

  1. She will take you out to check the water pumps and kill some geckos. Complete the entire exercise. Near the end, a Goodsprings settler will come under attack by geckos. Execute them before she can be killed (yes, you have to do this to earn the highest "good" reputation; there are only so many jobs in Goodsprings).
  2. At the Goodsprings bar, fixing the radio will slightly raise your reputation. You may have to come back and do this, unless you tagged Repair as one of your beginning skills.
    • If you lack the aptitude, there's an issue of Fixin' Things in the Prospector Saloon that temporarily gives you +10 Repair (or +20 with the Comprehension perk).

How do I get Idolized if I couldn't recruit all the townsfolk?
    Community Answer
You don’t necessarily recruit all of them to increase reputation. Even just getting a couple of townsfolk and completing the quest will raise your reputation enough (assuming the other quests have been done already).

      Tips

      • Kill Joe Cobb, the leader of the Powder Gangers, before their attack. He is stronger than the others, and loot from his body can prove useful against the Powder Gangers. You can kill him by landing a sneak attack on him while hidden.
      • Use friendly dialogue. If you talk like a jerk, you can lose your Reputation.
      • Tag/raise your Speech skill. You will need it to earn the trust of most of the townsfolk.

      Warnings

      • Don't pickpocketing, steal, hack, and lockpick owned locks in front of Goodsprings residents.
      • Don't wear Legion or Powder Ganger armor in Goodsprings. Boasting enemy faction armor will get you driven out, and you will lose your reputation.
