This wikiHow article teaches you how to join a Facebook group, both in the mobile app version of Facebook for Android, iPhone, and iPad, and on the Facebook website. Groups are pages for users with a collective shared interest, such as local yard sales or music genres. Keep in mind that the only way you can join a secret group is by being invited by an existing member.

    Tap the search icon at the top of the Facebook app. If you're using your Android, iPhone, or iPad, tap the magnifying glass at the top of your screen. This will bring up your device's keyboard. [1]

    Tap a group name to learn more about it. Before joining a group, tap the group's name or icon to read its description, see group activity (member count/activity level), and find out if there are any requirements for members who want to join.
    • For example, some Buy Nothing groups limit membership to people who live in certain cities or neighborhoods.

    Tap Join below a group. The Join button is on the right side of a group's name. Depending on the group's security level, you may be able to join right away, or you may need to wait for a group admin to approve you. Once you're accepted into the group by an administrator, you will be able to post in the group.
    • Some groups will ask you to fill out a brief form to answer questions about why you want to become a member.

  1. On a computer, click the search bar at the upper-left corner of Facebook, type the name or type of group you want to join, and then press the ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return key on your keyboard.

    Open the Groups area of Facebook. If you want to check out some Facebook groups but don't have a particular group in mind, you can use the Discover feature to find groups that may interest you. Here's how to get to the Groups area:
