In some cases you may be able to tell that you have been blocked. Various methods for finding out are explained in detail in the article above. For example, since you can’t work this out by texting, you can try calling the number and listening to see what happens. Signs that you might have been blocked include the call being diverted after a half or one ring only or a message that the contact is unreachable. However, these signs might just mean the network is down, the caller is busy or the caller’s phone is dead, so try again later, perhaps several times over a few days. If it keeps happening, it could mean you’ve been blocked. You might ask a friend to call to see if the person answers and maybe even ask them about the block. If you truly suspect you’ve been blocked, then perhaps try to talk in person to the person whom you think has blocked you, to find out why.

In many instances, the phone will ring out after half to one ring only. In some cases, there will be no ring at all. Be aware that what can happen when you’re blocked will depend on the carrier and where you are located but as a general rule, there won’t be many ringing sounds, and this will be a repeated pattern every time you try to call.

There is nothing to alert the person the moment you block them. Your phone carrier won’t inform anyone they’ve been blocked. Rather, they’ll work it out eventually when they can never get through to you, or if you tell them (or someone else offers this information to them).

Do iMessages turn green when blocked?

The color of the message is not necessarily an indicator of having been blocked but it’s a high probability. The color green indicates an SMS message, while the blue indicates an iMessage. If, after sending your blue iMessage to your contact, the iMessage turns from blue to green and you don’t get a Delivered confirmation, it can just mean that the network is down. To find out if it’s a block rather than the network, keep sending iMessages over the next day or two and if the same thing keeps happening (it turns from blue to green), then you can probably assume you’ve been blocked unless your contact is out of network reach or is taking a technology break.
  • Question
Is there a way I can text this person by masking my phone number?
    Community Answer
You can download a text app, customize a fake number, and text them from there. That way you can get in touch without them knowing your identity.
  • Question
How do I reveal my telephone number and name when I call someone?
    Community Answer
    Just don’t use *67.
  • Question
Have I been blocked if it rings 5 or more times and then says the voice mail box is full?
    Community Answer
No. It just means the voice mail box is full. Usually that happens after 3 calls have been saved.
  • Question
My friend says my phone blocks her calls. How can I find out if it does and remove the block?

    Community Answer
Schedule a day to hang out if possible and sit next to each other. Have your friend call you and if your phone doesn't light up, then it is possibly a blocked number. I don't know what phone you have and I am not sure if unblocking a number is different on different phone companies, so I recommend searching up how to unblock a number with whatever phone company you have. After doing the test. Or if you can't hangout and test it out. Just skip to step two.
  • Question
If I am blocked, will my texts go through?

It depends on how the block is done. If done at the carrier level you will not send an SMS or RCS message (the error "not delivered" will show up underneath). If done at the phone level the receiving phone will just delete the text message while you will see "delivered".
  • Question
What if the call goes through but it continues to ring?

Usually if your number is blocked, the call either doesn't go through in the first place, or only one ring is heard with no voicemail afterwards. If it keeps ringing (and eventually goes to voicemail if it's a mobile number), it's possible that the person you're trying to call is busy and doesn't have their phone with them. If it's a landline number, the person might not be at home.
  • Question
Will your text messages get through if someone has blocked your phone number?
    Entranced98
    Top Answerer
No, the person who blocked your number won't see them. Blocking a number typically stops all contact - texts, calls and voicemails from a blocked number won't appear at all.
  • Question
I've been blocked on Whatsapp by my friend. Will they receive my texts or iMessages?
    Entranced98
    Top Answerer
They still can if they've only blocked you from within Whatsapp. Be warned though, if they have a reason to block you on Whatsapp, they might have also blocked your number for everything, including texts, calls and voicemails.
