This wikiHow teaches you how to block a phone number on an iPhone, Android, or landline phone, as well as how to add your phone number to the Do Not Call registry.
Blocking a Number: Quick Instructions
- iPhone: Open the Phone app and tap "Recents" or "Contacts." Tap the information icon next to a number and tap "Block this Caller" > "Block "Contact."
- Android: Open the Phone app, tap the three dots, tap "Call History," and select a number. Tap "Block/report spam" > "Block."
- Landline: Dial "*60" and follow the instructions, or contact your carrier.

Tap Recents or Contacts . If you want to block a non-contact number that recently called you, tap Recents . To block a contact, tap Contacts .Advertisement

Tap ⓘ next to a number or tap on a contact's name. It's to the right of the number that you want to block. If you're blocking a contact instead, tap their name.

Scroll down and tap Block this Caller . It should be the last option on the page.

Tap Block Contact when prompted. You'll see this red text at the bottom of the screen. Doing so blocks the number, preventing it from calling you in the future.

Manage your blocked callers. Your iPhone stores a list of the numbers that you've blocked. Use the following steps to review it: [1] X Research source

- Tap Blocked Contacts .
- Review any numbers under the "BLOCKED CONTACTS" heading.

Tap â‹® . It's the icon with three dots in the top-right corner of the Phone screen. Doing so prompts a drop-down menu.

Tap Settings . This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Tap Block numbers . It's below the "CALL SETTINGS" heading near the middle of the screen.

Enter a number you want to block. Tap the text field below the "Add phone number" heading, then type in the number you want to block.

Tap â‹® . It's in the top-right corner of the Phone screen. A drop-down menu will appear.

Tap ADD A NUMBER . This is at the top of the page.

Enter the number you want to block. Tap the text field, then type in the number you want to block.
- Alternatively, you can go into Recent Calls or Call History and tap a number you want to block. Then tap Block .
- Additionally, you can tap the toggle switch next to "Unknown" to block all calls from unknown numbers.

- If you want to unblock a number, enter the "Blocked Numbers" list in the Settings menu, tap X next to a number you want to unblock, and then tap Unblock .

Add a number to your blocked list. If you want to add an individual number that is not in your contacts to your blocked list, use the following steps to do so:
- Tap the icon with three dots ( â‹® ) in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Call Settings .
- Tap Call blocking & Decline with message .
- Tap Blocked numbers .
- Tap the Plus ( + ) icon.
- Enter a number or contact.
- Tap Done .

Tap the icon that resembles a clock. It's at the top of the page. This displays your recent calls.

Check your phone's manual for phone-specific instructions. Some landline phones have built-in features to block calls. If your phone does, you'll find instructions in its manual.

Open the DNC registry site. Adding your number to the Do Not Call registry will decrease the number of spam calls you receive. Go to https://www.donotcall.gov/ in a web browser.

Click the link in the email from the Do Not Call registry. Open the email with the subject "National Do Not Call Registry - OPEN AND CLICK on Link to Complete Your Registration," and click the link to verify your request.
- If you don't see this email within ten minutes, open the Spam or Junk folder and look for it there.
