How do I get grid paper?

You can buy it at most office supply stores such as Staples, or any other stores that have stationary items. You might even find some at the dollar store. If you have a ruler, you could also just draw grids onto plain paper.

The ships must be placed either horizontally or vertically. No ship can be placed diagonally. If you place the destroyer (length of 2) in the middle of the board, then 10 fields around it must be clear. In other words, ships cannot touch diagonally.
