  • Question
What is the difference between a coven and a cult?
    Community Answer
A coven follows one another and respects that, while a cult blindly follows one leader without second thought.
  • Question
Can a coven consist of only two people?
    Community Answer
A coven can consist of any number of people, although I would personally aim for more people if you want more social interaction. Starting your coven with two people may be ideal, however, if you wish to slowly branch out to other people.
  • Question
Can I start a coven online?
    Community Answer
There is nothing keeping you from starting an online coven. However, an online coven makes it incredibly hard to collaborate on rituals, spells, etc. Online covens are best for sharing and swapping knowledge and meeting other Wiccans.
  • Question
How can I recruit people to my coven while keeping it private?
    Community Answer
This can be tricky. Your best bet may be to ask people you are sure will say yes. For others, bring up Wiccan covens to gauge their interest before telling them that you have one. Before inviting people, ask them to promise to keep it secret.
  • Question
How old do I need to be to practice witchcraft?
    Community Answer
Any age as long as you are mature and understand the concepts of witchcraft.
  • Question
How do you find some Wiccans to join when you're not sure what to look for in a Wiccan?
    Selene48
    Community Answer
Ask them about their strengths, weaknesses, personalities, beliefs, etc. And if you find them respectable, they can join your group.
  • Question
How do I keep a coven private?
    Community Answer
You can make a rule that nobody talks about the coven when you aren't in a meeting.
  • Question
Can you do this when you're younger, such as 11?
    Community Answer
For Wicca, any age is fine.
  • Question
Is there a ritual of some sort to begin the path? Does there need to be someone who is deemed the High Priestess?
    Community Answer
You can create one yourself, or look one up online. Or you don't have to have one at all. It's all about preference. Having a High Priestess is a hierarchy, which is fine, but some may not prefer that. You can all be equal Priests or Priestesses, if you desire.
  • Question
How can I become a high priest or priestess if I have never been a part of a coven?
    Selene48
    Community Answer
Study about a specific Wiccan religion for 366 days, then join a coven. Learn and practice for a few years, then you will get promoted to high priestess or high priest.
  • Question
How do I find the people I want in my coven? Does it have to be humans or witches and can I spawn them whenever I want?
    Mattijn
    Community Answer
Witches are humans. You cannot just spawn them. They are real people who practice witchcraft.
  • Question
How do I find people who want to be in a coven and get them to join me?
    Community Answer
Post on social media, use Internet chat rooms and place posters in your community for a meeting.
  • Question
Is there any sort of linking spell we need to do to initiate each member of our coven?
    Community Answer
That depends on your members. If you're doing an equal coven, ask and get consensus. If you're doing a hierarchy, you/they should choose. But even if you're doing a hierarchy, sometimes a consensus is a good idea.
  • Question
Do I need a high priest or priestess?
    MysticalExperimentation
    Community Answer
Most covens have one, but some are egalitarian or run on a different system, so it's not a necessity.
  • Question
Do I have to ask my parents if I can start one?
    Community Answer
It depends on your parents. If they are not OK with Paganism, you certainly shouldn't talk to them about it. If they are, and they want to be sure you're safe while respecting your beliefs, you should probably ask them for their opinions. Whatever you end up doing, remember that at a young age, it is likely that the coven members won't have the maturity to keep secrets or use magic well, and you must be aware of the risks you're taking.
  • Question
How do I find Wiccans near me?
    Community Answer
Several websites may help. A simple search online will show you if there is any advertised prominent group in your area.
  • Question
Do witches summon demons like in the movies?
    Community Answer
That really depends on your definition of "witch." Wiccan witches do not summon demons. Most of them don't even believe in such supernatural creatures. If you're interested in witches who supposedly summon demons, I suggest you look into Satanism and other occult religions.
  • Question
What if I don't like Witchvox?
    Community Answer
If you don't like Witchvox, you can simply find connections through the Internet by browsing or searching area-specific covens or organizations. If what you seek is creating a coven, all you need is meeting Pagans; your problem is knowing where to find them. Another option, in addition to all websites and official organizations, is to frequent cafes and shops that cater to magic practitioners' needs; ask around or get to know people.
  • Question
Do certain practices require a specific number of people in a coven? I'd like to invite three people I know, but I'm not sure a four-person coven would be considered wrong.
    Community Answer
A coven can only be 3 people. If you want four people it would be a quadren.
  • Question
Can there be both men and women in a Wiccan coven?
    Community Answer
Yes, of course. Any sex or gender may be accepted. All sexes and genders practice witchcraft, although it is more common to find females.
  • Question
How do I start becoming a witch?
    Community Answer
There is no “becoming” a witch. To take part in witchcraft, you can read books and maybe do some beginner spells. Also, if you know any Wiccans, ask them for advice.
  • Question
What are some websites to learn about the Wiccan society and begin my journey into the Wiccan religion?
    Community Answer
A good website is learnreligons.com. You can also find some on wikihow. There are lots of these kinds of websites, and you can look for them by searching 'wicca' in your web browser.
  • Question
How do you get materials (candles, herbs, book of shadows, etc.) without awkwardly asking your parents?
    RayTrap
    Community Answer
If you are still in the broom closet, there are a couple of things you can do. First of all, you can put your altar in a shoebox, your BoS can be a regular notebook or one with a lock. Pretend (or do) take up yoga and gardening, as that will get you a lot of supplies and an easy excuse. Take up gardening to get your herbs. You can collect rocks instead of crystals or ask for some decorate your room with.
  • Question
Can Wiccan covens do both black and white magic?
    RayTrap
    Community Answer
Yes, Wicca is generally about finding your own spiritual path. Both black and white magic are fine.
  • Question
Can you create a non-Wiccan/pagan coven? Or one that has both Wiccan/pagan and non-Wiccan/pagan?
    Sage Hudson
    Community Answer
A coven is a group of witches who practice witchcraft together, so a "coven" with non-Pagans/Wiccans would just be considered a group of friends.
