  • Question
How can I break my fear of haunted houses?
    Community Answer
Personally I find that it works best if you just focus on the fact that it is NOT real. All monsters are fake, especially ones in haunted houses. Remember that what you're seeing is just a person in a costume, and they're not going to hurt you. The jump scares are a little hard to get around, but try to have fun with it. Everyone else will be jumping and screaming too.
  • Question
What if there are fake snakes in the haunted house and I am afraid of fake snakes?
    Community Answer
You don't need to go if you don't want to. I highly doubt there will be any snakes. There are usually just zombies, mummies, vampires, or creepy makeup.
  • Question
What can you do if you are afraid in your own house because you fear it is haunted?
    Community Answer
If you are scared of noises, investigate rather than assuming it is haunted. Get experts to help you, such a psychologist, a scientist, a builder, a priest, a someone-who-understands-ghosts and someone who doesn't believe in ghosts. Such a crew of different people will help you make an informed decision about whether there is anything at all and then what to do if there is a ghostly presence. If you believe in a higher power, ask the higher power for protection.
  • Question
What if I get scared easily, but I'll be with people I trust?
    Community Answer
Remind yourself that it is just actors, and you will be fine. If you want to act brave - keep your head high, and remind yourself that it is fake. If you trust these people you're with, then you will be okay! Happy haunting!
  • Question
What do I do if I get so scared I pee myself?
    Community Answer
As embarrassing as this is, tell the nearest actor. That way, it can be cleaned up as quickly as possible, and it won't cause problems for other customers and actors. More likely than not, they will be pretty chill about it and see it as a complement. Don't worry; it happens more than you think.
  • Question
Should a ten year-old-girl go into a haunted house?
    Community Answer
It depends on how extreme the haunted house is, and how well the child ordinarily handles scary stuff. It might be a good idea to have the parent or an older child go through first and report.
  • Question
What would happen if I went into a haunted house by myself?
    Community Answer
Only do so if you are courageous, fearless and up for a challenge. Otherwise you could get very scared and possibly wet your pants or run out screaming.
  • Question
I went in a haunted house in early August. Now it is early September and I am still scared. Is this normal?
    Community Answer
This is normal, but getting over your fear requires getting a little scared first. Try to go in another one.
  • Question
What if I am scared that my house is haunted by a demon ghost? I see and hear creepy stuff at night when I am in bed.
    Community Answer
You will be fine. Your house is not haunted. The things you hear at night are just things outside. Trees, animals, bugs, neighbors, etc...
  • Question
Where can I find a haunted house?
    Community Answer
If you can't find a haunted house in your area, look up other 'haunted' places. A cemetery or historical building would be a good place to start.
  • Question
If I explore haunted houses and then come home, could I bring back angry souls?
    Community Answer
No, you won't bring back angry souls. You won't get hurt (most likely), and nobody will haunt you. Don't be worried. Ghosts usually haunt locations, not people.
  • Question
How can I tell myself that none of it is real and not get scared at all?
    Community Answer
Just remind yourself that this is like a movie. There are actors that wear makeup. You should be fine. If you need to, take some deep breaths after something that scared you!

What happens if I have a panic attack in the middle of the house and there are no exits?
    Community Answer
If the haunted house you are going to is a legitimate business (like Frightmares), there will be exits. They're required to have them due to fire safety codes. If you can't find an exit, tell someone nearby that you're having a panic attack, and ask them to help you leave the building. Make sure you take slow, deep breaths.

It takes guts, but many people go into haunted houses by themselves. It's not anything to be embarrassed about, if that's what you're asking. It actually marks you as brave. If it's too scary for you, find a group of friends to go with.

  • Question
What if I have no friends?
    Chante Farsht
    Community Answer
It's okay to go to a haunted house alone, most of them will put people into groups anyway. A lot of haunted houses will offer group tickets and will lob a few strangers who aren't with anyone into a group to go in together, so nobody feels left out or so no scaredy-cats have to face the jumpscares by themselves. Have fun!
  • Question
How do I convince someone to go with me to a haunted house?
    Community Answer
An important thing to remember is to never force someone to do something they don't want to. Just remind them gently from time to time that the things in the house are not real, and cannot hurt them.
  • Question
Even though they may just be actors, I still feel like it’s real and that they’re going do something to me. If it seems real to me, it is real and that worries me. How can I overcome this thought?

If you don't like haunted houses, simply avoid them. Otherwise, go in with friends and family so they can support you. It's not something you have to do, ever.
  • Question
What if your mother is forcing you to go and you are very afraid of the haunted house?
    Lilylovers
    Top Answerer
Have an honest conversation with her about why you don’t want to go. If there’s absolutely no way to get out of it, remain wary because they often rely on jump scares. Remember while going through that they are just random people in costumes.
  • Question
What should I do if I’m so scared to go but I already paid and my parents and friends really want me to go? Should I go?
    Squish Mallow
    Community Answer
Don’t go if you are nervous! Tell them and be honest, they wouldn’t want you to go if you are not having fun. Sometimes you can get a refund, so it is better to tell them now and they may be able to refund it.
