I’m back with another new category idea, as if all the previous ones weren’t enough.:stuck_out_tongue:

The Autism Spectrum category is getting more and more stimming and SPD articles, and I think they could use their own subcategory, for 2 reasons

  1. Most people don’t know what stimming and SPD are, or know that they are autism symptoms. Thus, the Category Guardian might falsely label these articles as miscategorized.

  2. We have enough articles, so why not?

Stimming and Sensory Issues

For the curious, stimming is short for self-stimulatory behavior. Autistic people use it to stimulate their senses and express emotion. For example, if my sensory issues cause me to not get enough input, I can stim a bit and then focus better. If I’m experiencing too much input, I can focus on stimming repetitively to “tune out” the other things a little better. This is why I feel the two could share a category.

What do you all think?

Ummm I dont think there is a need for another category But I also know that I am no expert.

Thanks for bringing this behavior up. I just learnt about it.

Sounds like a great idea to me! There sure are enough of them.
