Just recently, I found this one suggestion in the Answer Requests tool. It’s called “Organize a Home for Christmas”. After looking at the 5 possibilities and then doing a duplicates search (and coming up with nothing), I began taking some notes on possibilities of steps the user can do to complete the given task. But if memory serves me “organizing” something for Christmas means essentially decorating something. I did find Decorate Your House at Christmas.
To ensure I wasn’t missing something, I did take some notes on an online document that I’d like to share with you before it gets fully-created either by creating the redirect or beginning the new article. (Being this are just notes, there may be some overlap between what’s currently there and what my ideas are, so please hold off on the crudity of my notes.)
However, if I am missing something, please let me know. I later sent this link to Anna, who said that it’s not really her expertise, but something that could take some collaboration to achieve.
Edit (10/7/2014): Link deleted in Google Drive, so link deleted in this forums post.
My two cents: I think there’s a difference between organizing and decorating. Here’s what I think constitutes examples of each Examples of Organizing: Storing Christmas lights so they don’t get tangled and putting them away correctly so that they don’t get messed up next year; boxing ornaments, sorting them by type, using bubble wrap around fragile ornaments; making way for places to put all of these items; cleaning decorations, ornaments and lights to rid them of dust Examples of decorating: putting up tree, putting up lights etc. The way I would see an article like this it would have sections for things like Organizing Christmas Lights, Organizing Ornaments, Organizing Decorations etc. You could also do separate articles if they aren’t there already – one for organizing Christmas lights, one for boxing and retrieving ornaments/decorations etc. I’m not psychic and don’t know what the requester meant, but this is my interpretation. There’s probably a lot of overlap between decoration and organization.
My visualization was similar to @Elocina
’s. I thought to: 1- Plan for the upcoming season: Will you be traveling, hosting others, throwing a party or two? - Plan meals, menus, special baking sessions, … - Acquire and store all the provisions in a planned, orderly way. - Work with household members to plan individual budgets, gift lists, and shopping excursions. - Plan the party activities/invitees. - Plan some decorating sessions with the kids. 2 - Go through the attic and get everything ready: - Make sure everything is pulled out. - Assess decorations to make sure they are in good order. - Determine what additional decorations are needed. - Pull out extras that will be needed for guests, making sure everything is available and handy. - Put up summer clothes and get out Holiday clothes/jewelry. - Pull down the wrapping paper, bows, and cards. 3 - Set up work stations: - Wrapping station or at least a paper and supply storage area - Craft station - Card addressing station Mine is more like “Organize the Home and Household,” Elocina’s is more like “Organize the Decorations.”
It’s summer in December in Australia and New Zealand. I won’t be packing away any summer clothes…I agree with Alabaster. You may want to add something about getting everything before the “big day” when the shops will be shut.
The format of Alabaster’s ideas were easy to follow, and it took me a few minutes to recognize where Elocina was going with her ideas. Unless others have any other ideas, I should be somewhat ready to construct something a little better that what that Google Doc portrayed. Thanks, so far. Give me a good week, so I can get something down. I seem to have had a jumbled up mind.

’s post would be awesome for a final section: Getting organized for next year. Included there could be - Shop the after-Christmas sales for cards, decorations, and gift paper.
As for the items I included on the original Google Docs document, I did a bold edit that is now included from this edit: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Decorate-Your-House-at-Christmas&diff=15618137&oldid=15373849
