Hi! We have a ridiculous amount of requested topics right now – 437,462. There used to be a way to apply tags such as NFD to requests. Can we bring this back? I see a few that are impossible or some that have misspelled titles/improper capitalization.

yes

I see Maluniu creating redirects for requested topics that would be obvious duplicates, and in many cases, misspellings are likely to be duplicate of correctly spelled titles. This is efficient because it takes care of a potential duplicate article and removes the title from the requested pages list at the same time. There is always the option of manually removing the titles as well, there was a project a while back for doing it, but it is still an administrator only capability.

@Choicefresh http://www.wikihow.com/Special:ManageSuggestions and as far as the “duplicates” goes, I’ve been just mimicking how the proposed redirects are created.

We also have the Suggested Topics to Delete page. If anyone who is unable to delete the requests themselves wants them to be deleted, they can put the title on the page, and I or another administrator will check it every once in a while and delete the titles that are there. This is one way people can help out.

How should this tool be used? Should I reject the request if the title is misspelled?

Oh snap, all this time I thought you were an admin:frowning:You’d have to use the link from Oliver’s page and treat it as the Admin. Notice Board per categories.

Not the Admin Notice Board, the Suggested topics to delete (the one that Oliver gave the link to). If you see something that should be deleted, put it on the board here and an admin will get to it. =) June Days

Hi everyone, I was just going to open a new discussion about the Request List when I saw this .:slight_smile:What I noticed was quite a number of requested articles WERE already written!. For example, I just came across a requested article “How to view e-mails headers in gmail” and I planned to write it when I saw EXACTLY an article written “How to read e-mails headers in gmail”. I mean - exactly what a person is looking for. I thought to myself: “why a requester could not find an article s/he was looking for?”. And like I said there were quite a few of these instances. I agree that there is a ridiculous number of the requested articles. LOL And some topics are the duplicates. I add them into the “Suggested topics to delete” when I see them.

LOL nope. I do have permissions to access the page however – maybe due to the NAB permissions I have. Is that intended? Since I do have access to the page, it’d be nice to know how to use it properly:slight_smile:

@Choicefresh and any other booster or admin! - http://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Titles-from-the-Suggested-Topic-Database-on-wikiHow Updated!! =)

Nice improvements @Maluniu !

Any non admin or booster can always help (like non boosters assists boosters); the actual tools themselves can only be used for admins and boosters. http://www.wikihow.com/Image:Suggested_topics03_267.png - You can either use those “bubble” options on the left hand side to propose a redirect (and an admin/booster can determine if it should be a redirect or not) http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Suggested-Topics-to-Delete - Or, you can list down potential things that shouldn’t be in the list
