I feel as though this category, by name, is quite unclear. Google, as is, has a lot of mobile applications, a small handful of desktop applications, a lot of chrome applications and a few Web Apps, yet this category is just ‘applications’.
I think that if we were to define the category to mobile applications or web applications, that would help avoid confusion since ‘applications’ is most commonly referred to as a computer program.
