I was writing a new article right now and I accidentally pressed a key on my computer that made the webpage go back. I lost multiple steps. We need a draft saving option for new articles.
If you switch into the Advanced Editor rather than using the Article Creator tool, it should automatically save drafts like when you’re normally editing. There’s that workaround.

Yeah, different versions of our writing tools offer different features, and the Article Creator is more of a simple “newbie” tool for article creation, which isn’t designed to incorporate drafts. But like Alex said, to use drafts, you can stick with the Advanced or Guided Editors, instead.
You can also turn off the Article Creator permanently for your account, if you’d like - just uncheck the box in https://www.wikihow.com/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing
that says “Use the Article Creation Tool for writing new articles”. Then you’ll go straight to the regular edit windows all the time and won’t have to swap to use drafts
