We need to do more for Dup prevention. There are an tremendous amount of articles with very similar titles. Can we not put the NAB Dup Check logic into the New Article Wizard? The NAB seems more advanced.

The duplicate check when you write an article is supposed to help prevent duplicates…how would removing it reduce duplicates? Maybe I’m misunderstanding?

That’s not quite what I meant. It seems that the NAB dup check is much better than the new article dup check. I can’t see the code, but that’s my impression. My suggestion is to replace the new article dup check with the NAB dup check. Bottom line, from patrolling NFD|DUPs it seems the system could do a better job at weeding out dups before they are created…
I’m not 100% certain, but I think both of these systems use the same database. (It is possible they don’t though. Do you have examples of a dup check on NAB pulling up things different than one in New Article Creation.) Could the issue be that NABers are more skilled and more diligent at identifying duplicates from the search list than a new author would be?

It’s kind of hard to check as once an article is in NAB you can’t create a new title. Your theory about skill could be correct. My limited trials on article creation only resulted in one response. NAB usually comes up with multiple. Maybe something that should be tested further - looking for any way to help prevent dups before they happen!

It looks to be the same. I started a test article with the title “How to Photograph Tea” and I got these suggestions:Then I immediately opened the article in NAB and got the same suggested duplicates:…So my guess is that boosters are just more thorough about identifying duplicates?
mabey you could add a automatic finder on that new program i testeed a while back where you can see what your doing before you publish it?
