Pages that are protected from editing by normal users shouldn’t turn up in RCP, should they? I’m asking this because I saw this revert on MediaWiki:Ratearticle_notrated_mobile , where some new patroller reverted Jack’s edit to the message to make it more concise. This is weird, because the revert shouldn’t have even happened due to the edit protection. I couldn’t revert the edit due to this protection, and it required an admin to revert. I can’t remember ever seeing something like this, so it seems like it could be a bug with RCP, which should be looked at if necessary.

@Lugia2453 Mediawiki space pages can’t be protected, as I just got _“Pages in this namespace cannot be protected.”_When attempting to protect it after BR’s revert.

That’s strange. I marked that edit as patrolled more than once (it kept turning up). @Maluniu If MediaWiki pages can’t be protected, why can’t I edit them?

Because they can’t be individually protected/unprotected by an admin, but they areprotected by the software using a specific permission that by default, is assigned to admins. But yes, this is a bug - in that either MW namespace edits should only be shown to admins or not be shown at all (or simply prevent a user from rolling back on a page they can’t edit)

I don’t think this is anything new, but I agree it shouldn’t happen. Thanks for catching it! I’ve filed a bug, and I put it on our brainstorm/wish-list for the next RCP tool, too, just in case it can’t be fixed before that time (given what a sticky wicket the RCP code is).
