I was trying to send a message to a user, but couldn’t. Whenever I clicked at “Post”, I got this message : “Error: found spam link”. My message didn’t consist of any link, so I am confused as to why I’m getting this. I refreshed my page but it was of no use. Screenshot : http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t630/Shinako99/msgbug_zpsa0cb0c68.jpg Browser info : https://aboutmybrowser.com/zF6vDg_v User’s talk page : http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Sonamoni Update : This problem is only with this user’s page. I am able to send messages to others.

It would appear someone left an earlier message with a link that was later added to the spam blacklist, so the link in the earlier message has to be removed before anyone can edit or leave a message there… Don’t even think about what would happen if someone added ‘‘How to’’ to the spam blacklist…LOLz…

I wouldn’t blame it on Anna, but it looks like ‘‘ screencast.com ’’ has been added to the blacklist, and she linked to it in an earlier message. You should be able to post a message there now (if I am not mistaken, of course, I probably am…)

After a little more research, I removed the http/ from both screencast.com and virtualhost.com , and a message can now be posted on Sonomoni’s talkpage, but I didn’t find either URL on the spam blacklist… I wonder if anyone can coax KommaH into returning to tidy up the blacklist? He did an awesome job last time!

Thanks for hunting it down Bob! So the good thing here is that with the upgrade, the engineers put in a spam warning like this - before, your message would have just “hung” without sending, which was confusing and frustrating! So now if you see that error, you’ll know there’s a link somewhere on the page (not necessarily in your message). The Talk spam error isn’t quite as smart as the article one, in telling you which link is triggering the blacklist (the engineering behind the two mechanisms is a bit different, I gather), but as a test, I copied the whole page into the Sandbox to see what link was triggering it - it was google.co.in, because .co.in is on the blacklist (not positive why, but it seems it has been for a long time). Removing the http does the trick though, for sure! And obviously blacklisted URLS can be removed if they shouldn’t be blacklisted. Man, if screencast were on the blacklist, I’d be done for! I screencast evvvvveryday:slight_smile:

Thank you Bob and Anna!
