Hello everyone! Happy Monday almost Tuesday. This is another friendly PSA from your friendly neighborhood Stephen. I wanted to touch on a matter that I see crop up on the forums from time to time. First off, this is not to call out anyone. I have seen multiple people doing it.
Please. Don’t be discouraged or turned away if you don’t get extra user rights or badges either right away or at all. In the history of wH there have been a lot of users who are only users and/or welcomers/featured authors only. They’ve been here for years and still make great edits, get invited to meetups, and are generally just great members of the community.
When I think of great editors (every single one of you!) I don’t remember you in terms of ‘admin’ ‘booster’ ‘not an admin/booster’ etc (and I’m pretty sure a lot of others will agree). I think of you in terms of the great person and contributor that you are.
I know it can be discouraging if you have goals and aren’t quite meeting them but it’s important to remember that these badges/rights are simply tools to help better serve the community. Extra buttons. Nothing more, nothing less. You’re not more special, you’re not less special for having them/not having them. You are all equally special.
I hope that helped someone at least. I hate to see people discouraged when you are all great. You are all my wikifriends and I wish you the best from my corner of the wikiworld. Sending wikihugs to everyone.

Thanks for starting this. Remember: moderators are no more important than other users; they just have the necessary judgement and will to help out with the site. In many cases, adminship is pointless; you do not need to be an admin to do things that admins typically do, including revert vandalism, patrol new pages, clean up whatlinkshere, etc. Think of it like keys to a janitor’s closet (hence the mop analogy on Wikipedia); it gives them tools needed for widespread cleanup, but it does not mean they can use them unless if absolutely necessary.
