Why exactly did we remove introduction images from articles? I can’t really see much point to that. I’ve been seeing artifacts of intro images even now.

There’s a number of reasons, but pretty much because intro images weren’t productive. From what I remember, the wikiHaus did a study on how much the intro images influenced the reader’s overall satisfaction(?) with the articles. If not installed into the articles well, the images looked unprofessional. And there was a lot of unneeded patrolling done as a result. There was even this tool which we removed last summer that I personally loved. However, it caused a lot of volunteer work to go into it and not be used in other places around the site that we needed a lot more help on. Hmm, I think I did a decent job of summing it up. Feel free to add anything that I missed, guys.

One thing though: Why is there still an “Intro image” section in article stats?

Haha, better than decent job, @Confusionist !:slight_smile:Here’s a post with some more info, @Neon-Heart : http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/6864/big-changes-coming-to-intro-images/p1 You’re right that the article stats contents is a bit out-dated with the current setup there! Just not something we’ve devoted engineering time to changing yet, because there are so many other high priorities that take up engineering time. Luckily its presence in the stats page doesn’t really hurt anything:slight_smile:
