To clear some space, I have been wanting to delete my Safari history on my ipod touch. One problem, in settings and on the page that has all your history, the buttons are that silver color that wont let you hit clear. I have gone into restrictions and not found anything. Any advice or instructions? Thank you so much!

I don’t this has anything to do with wikiHow at all, @Gracelinhappy .:confused:If it does, an admin can probably move this somewhere else, though I doubt this thread will be here much longer, due to the fact this is not wikihow-related stuff. @Marina or @Anna , whatcha think about this?

@DragonZKai7 That is why it is in General Chat.

@McDonalds1 , this is one problem for one user. Gracelinhappy can find a way to fix her iPod. Probably restart it? General Chat is supposed to be off topic, like chatting, but not personal problems.

@DragonZKai7 Not necessarily. I think that she is trying to ask us for help on the problem, although you might be right. It could be a suitable question to be posted on the Help Team page.

The General Chat section is for any topic not related to wikiHow activities.

So if anyone has advice for @Gracelinhappy , let’s keep this discussion on-topic and try to help her out with her iPod problem.

@Gracelinhappy I am using an iPod Touch now so I’ll see if I can help. When I want to clear my history, I don’t go on settings because there is a much easier way. When you’re on a page on Safari, there are 3 blue objects and the bottom of the page, one looking like a box with an arrow shooting out of it, another looking like a book and the third looking like two pieces of paper. Click on the book. A page will come up with absolutely all your history. At the bottom in blue writing it will say clear, click on that. Now a pop up menu will come up, with a tab for clearing your last hour’s history, clearing today’s history, clear today and yesterday’s history and then at the bottom clear all history. Just click on the preferred option and voilá, your history is cleared (-:

It is much easier then it looks, this is just detailed so the process seems more complex. Hope it helps:smiley:

@MissUnicornLover thank you but the clear button you discribed will not let me click on it. :…(

@Gracelinhappy your iPod appears to be crashed. Force restart it and try again. To force restart, click and hold the home button and the off button at the top of the device for about 15 seconds until it shuts off. After 20 seconds or so, open up your iPod and repeat the steps I told you and see if it works:smiley:

Thanks. Well then, I will be right back. (I’m on my i pod touch right now)

Hmmm, so I’ve restarted it twice and the clear button is still silver.

Wow, I wonder what happened…when my iPod crashes even when I restart it, I leave it for a night and then it’s solved

I did some checking… do you have iOS 7.1 on your iPod? If so, there seems to be a bug - someone else described the same problem in this thread over at Macrumors: http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-7-1-delete-browser-history.1715353/

They fixed it by reinstalling the iOS - I’m not sure how to do that but I’m sure you could find it with a search. Maybe you could try that, or updating your iOS to a newer version if possible.

Yes, I have iOS 8.something and it works fine for me. Try upgrading it.

Thank you guys, but I do have an iOS 8.4

Ah right, that’s what I have too. Have you dropped your iPod anywhere?

About 3 days ago, I was sitting at a table and something startled me. I dropped my iPod about half a inch.

@Gracelinhappy Problem solved, something has happened to it. Your iPod was probably made weaker or something, because by mistake I got startled, threw my iPod in the air and it hit the wall :-/ The wall has got a big dent in it but my iPod is working fine…I have also dropped it 3 times, clumsy me. I would suggest you get it looked at.

Ok! Thank you so much everyone!

No problem:smiley:
