I’ve been away and have returned to find various spellings for wikiHow. I noticed the main of wikiHow features the spelling WikiHow. I’ve also seen this spelling in various other wikiHow posts. My question is what is the correct spelling: Is it wikiHow or WikiHow? Thanks so much for your help! MA

wikiHow. Just like the logo says:slight_smile:

Thanks please go check the wikiHow main page and under categories it is spelled WikiHow…

As far as I know, it’s not possible (or at least not easy/worthwhile) to lowercase the category names. Since by default, all pages must begin with a capital letter. (Categories are a type of page)

The earlier wikiHow pages, and the current categories inside wikiHow, are spelled correctly. The new version of the main page cat is misspelled. This could be confusing to new visitors leading to misspelling of the name.

I wouldn’t consider capitalization a misspelling, per se. It doesn’t seem like a big deal to most people:slight_smile:

It is a big deal as there should be consensus on how the name of the wiki/business should be spelled. If you asked an English major about this, they would say it is a big deal as spelling correctly deals with good language skills.

Also, if you are on patrol and have to correct the misspellings it is a big deal.

+1

Might not necessarilybe a misspelling, but it IS wrong. If there is no other way, yeah, but otherwise, it should be wikiHow… IMHO

I agree with @Sudoking . The categorization is a technical issue and there’s not much that can be done to fix it. Maybe we could address the capitalization of wikiHow I the style guide somewhere? Otherwise, I’d say just fix it when you see the miscapitlization which IMHO is more if a branding issue than a grammatical one.

And by style guide I mean Writer’s Guide.

Thank you! I do think adding this information to the Writer’s Guide is an excellent idea. BTW you might want to change the wikiHow Intern logo too as it says WikiHow Intern. One last thing, branding is everything. I started out planning to go into marketing and work as a copywriter and didn’t. Believe me companies spend tons of money developing a brand. Now, aren’t you glad I’m back??
