I was browsing wikiHow on my phone, without being logged in, just to get a sense of what it feels like for readers who aren’t logged in and reading on a phone.

The page was displaying fine, then an ad appeared which pushed the whole page across in order to fit itself on the screen, and it kinda just made it a lot harder to read and access.

Here’s a screenshot as this is kinda hard to explain:

Before the ad loaded the content filled the whole screen and there was no gap on the right and it looked amazing! Well done to the engineers:) Pesky ads…(even though it’s a wikiHow ad which is actually really cool! I would’ve clicked on it if I read it at the time:joy:)

I hope this helps somehow:)

Thanks @Rupert28 . I can’t replicate this (the ad shows within the right area for me) so if you can share your device/browser info that’d be great thank you!

Additionally, if others are seeing this, it’d be great to know if it’s widespread.

No worries.

iPhone 11 on Safari.

I have also tried to replicate it since it happened and I haven’t been able to after various reloads of the page, but I haven’t come across the same ad either so maybe that’s part of the problem?

There’s other banner-style ads for different products/services that display correctly, so could it just be that specific ad that breaks it?

Having trouble replicating it on Microsoft Edge under logged out over InPrivate on iOS 15.6. Tried several of the top pages directly from our Home page - signed out!

Still can’t get it either. I have found another wikiHow ad for the meme game, but it isn’t a banner-style ad so it’s fine.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I’m running iOS 16 beta, and the search engine is set to DuckDuckGo(although I don’t think that would change anything).

The iOS beta version could be the issue as there’s been some updates to Safari with the new operating system update.

But it’s weird that it only happened to that one ad, never to other banner-style ads or anything else.

It is likely just that one ad, or perhaps it loaded accidentally. Luckily we have the screenshot you took @Rupert28 , so I can check with the team to make sure it’s not set to show on mobile devices moving forward:slight_smile:
