Alright maybe I’m blind, but I find it hard to get to places like the IRC chat or the forums. I just barely found a link to the forums in places to visit. Shouldn’t IRC and forums be available from, say, the community tab?

That’s a neat idea, but I think I know why it isn’t that way. If we made the forums and IRC easy to find for every user (or worse, every visitor), they’d be cluttered with activity. We’d have countless forum games, little forum control, and a lot of disruptive IRC users. Having them a bit out of reach seems to be a safety precaution.

There are a lot of pages that different people at different times might find useful to have direct links to, so we came up with a cool solution. Try this out: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-My-Links-on-wikiHow

I don’t really think that it is difficult to find the Forums… while the Places to Visit category in the sidebar on all wikiHow pages is collapsed by default, expanding it allows one to find the link to the Forums. I could see adding the link to IRC to this location as well (Places to Visit) but the link is already easily found within the wikiHow Help files, and it is also included in the wikiHow Tour that all newcomers are urged to explore. Additionally, a link to our IRC channel is included in the welcome links - http://www.wikihow.com/Template:Welcomelinks
