Note: The same font that the current templates use will stay, but the sizing differs slightly.

Please reply, providing feedback on these concepts, which I appreciate.

Honestly, I have to say I’m not a fan of the new designs. Especially on the Cleanup and Title templates, the icons are too thickly lined and are very distracting. (I find it very difficult to focus on the template text when there’s a loud design right next to it.) It’s kind of hard for me to support this when I find my eyes glued to the design on the template, rather than the text - which is why I like the thinner lines on the current icons.

I like the designs! The icons are more modern and simplistic and put more attention on the actual tag.

Only thing I would change is to shrink the tick on the Official Policy tag, but other than that, I like this little redesign:slight_smile:

Here are my thoughts on each one:

  • Cleanup: The new icon is a bit more modern (the old one is simple but kind of confusing). As @Galactic-Radiance said, the lines are really thick compared to the older, less distracting, thin icon. If those changes are made, I’ll look forward to seeing the redesigns go live!
  • Officialpolicy: I don’t prefer the border and background redesign, but the new icon has some potential. I’m just concerned that it’s too modern compared to wikiHow’s global theme. Maybe the old theme and the new icon can be combined?
  • Attention: I love the new icon! The lines are still a little thick and the icon is a bit too large, but with some adjustments, it’ll work out.
  • Title: I really dislike this one. I can’t even tell what the icon is supposed to represent, and it’s too distracting. An icon change could be warranted, but I’m not sure if it’s necessary.

I actually had an idea for fixing the issue of the thick lines. I’m sure that a few wikiHowians know that I do some digital drawing, and I’d be willing to create some icons for the templates with thinner lines, since they’re pretty much just doodles (and a few could probably easily be created with vector designs). I’d just need examples of what would be wanted on the templates, and the dimensions I’d need to stick to for the template sizes, but other than that, they’d probably be pretty quick projects that I’d be willing to undertake.

Either that, or I could create some doodles that are just modernizations of the current icons, and it can be a battle of the designs the community members could decide which they like better?

@Galactic-Radiance : Sorry that some icons appear very thick. I think the modern icons look much better, and many will probably agree. I’m all game for you designing the icons, thanks for the offer. :) We’ll probably want to keep the design similar to the ones posted above, but feel free to make any changes and show us!

  • Here are the icon download links.

  • Icon sizes:

    • Article templates: 54x65px
    • {{Officialpolicy}}: 62x62px

@ExoticComet : {{Officialpolicy}} uses a color that already exists in the left side of the current template, though we could change the background color to #edf6eb  (right side of the template). Icon size can always be reduced later. The title icon is supposed to represent this: i.screenshot.net/53kl4sr

@ItsPugle and everyone else: Do you think that reducing the size as shown  here  would be better?
