Here are some new desktop redesign concepts that just came from the designers this AM. Any feedback for us? We would plan on fixing that before launch.:slight_smile:Also these designs show really big intro images…which is unfortunate since we have actually been deleting intro images in many cases since our stats show they aren’t great for readers. In a launch version we might do them without big intro images like this. Forgetting about those problems what do you think of these? the top seems quite spacey… just doesn’t look right. and the search text + icon is in the middle of the search bar on Concept 1? That said, I do like Concept 0 but the image for the article is bigger than I would expect. Cute kitten. The white background for the buttons is kind of annoying though.

By the way, those saying that these look like Facebook or another site, there’s actually a trend going on for this specific layout. Check out Khan Academy, Facebook, eHow, and a few other sites. You may notice they look a little alike. The other thing about the redesign is the much discussed green color. Green’s used on a lot; eHow, Y&A, Khan Academy(before the update a month ago), and many other sites. So yeah, this redesign does look a lot like some other sites, but it’s also a pretty clean layout. If I could make one change, it would be the color, but I know that’s been discussed for a long time, so no biggie. Anyway, the redesign’s bound to look a little like another site. We’ve also got plenty of stuff that sets us apart, though, so what it’s like now is fine.
