Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We truly appreciate that so many of you care deeply about wikiHow past, present, and future. It’s clear from this thread that people have strong feelings about how things have changed over the years, and that kind of passion speaks to how special this community is.

I initially saw this as more of a community-focused discussion, which is why we hadn’t jumped in sooner. But please know that we’re reading every comment and taking your feedback on board—it’s all part of how we learn and grow.

wikiHow has had to evolve in response to the drastic changes we’ve seen on the internet over the two decades that wikiHow has operated, and we know not every change or experiment will resonate with everyone. But we’re constantly working to serve our readers and keep wikiHow afloat in that ever-changing and super difficult landscape shaped by AI, Google, and other forces. We do not want any of this to be interpreted as wikiHow not valuing the community or the immense contributions you all bring to the site. Those forces have candidly been really challenging for wikiHow, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that this place we all love can continue to be around.

I also want to provide some clarification on a couple of things that have come up, as it appears there may be some confusion:

  • We do NOT use AI to generate Q&A content. The AI tool runs every question and answer pair through a variety of checks before they go into the tool, as outlined in the wikiHaus Lab update here .
  • As a community, we already came to a consensus about WRM creating titles and running experiments that would potentially be different to our community standards. That was discussed here , and implemented on-site here . We recognize there are pros and cons to this, but it isn’t something we’re able to revisit or change at the moment.
