I have often found myself scrolling back up a user/user_talk page to get to the usable portion of the side bar. Much agglomerate.community.time might be saved if the side bar scrolled independently of the page. Alternatively, the sidebar could be divided and a portion of it be pinned, leaving the rest to scroll with the page or independently (best). Extending this to other pages, I have often found myself scrolling to the top of a page or to the bottom of a page for one reason or another. I am wondering if there are keyboard shortcuts for this action (maybe cntrl.up.arrow/cntrl.down.arrow). If these (or similar) were implemented, I would vote that cntrl.tab.fwd/cntrl.tab.back move through sections on a page. (Implicit in this implementation are anchors: top, bottom, section.) Again, a tweak has been identified and highlighted which represents savings in agglomerate.community.time expenditure. Supply your thoughts, tweaks, comments and suggestions, please.

I personally would like to see the sidebars being able to roll and scroll down to be in your sight the entire time, as there are numerous occasions that something that I am reading is linked to the sidebar, in which it would be handy should it be just to the right of your screen.

Are you saying @Danielbauwens that you can pin a window to the sidebar? That is very useful. What browser & OS do you use and how do you accomplish this, if you don’t mind sharing. I think what I envision for the sidebar would allow what you want, although I may be using the wrong words to explain it. I envision that a portion of the sidebar would always be at the top right of the screen on both the user and user_talk pages.

No, not at all. Consider it done:slight_smile:

@Serendipitee I think I might have worded myself incorrectly. I did not say that I am able to do this. I meant I would ‘’‘like’’’ to have that happen. Also, something I would to see, is in RC Patrol, a preview button in the Quick Note thingie. I sometimes wish to see the finished product of my messages that I am writing. I hope that they might consider this in the future changes that are coming along.

@Danielbauwens If you find a way to do what you would like, it will be great for sure. Maybe someone knows of a way to do this. It “should” be possible. I do not use two screens, but I think that would be the way to go for you. It would definitely boost your productivity and give you the feature you want, with an added bonus-- extra screen real estate. I am guessing that @Isorhythmic uses split screens and puts all of his tools on one screen where he can snag something “on the fly”. I’ll have to ask. Soon, I am going to put out a more fervent call for sharing tips, tricks and methods. I am also going to solicit observations about what mentors have to say over and over and over and try to put that in front of every newcomer “upfront” and as a part of the resource page I am thinking about. I am with you on missing a preview function in quicknote mode. One other thing I think would be great is to have a dialog bubble containing discussion notes come up when you go to edit an article. It would save time and would ensure that the discussion notes were read in all cases. What I envision is just like the edit notes that overlay the new revision in a diff. And while we are putting out a list of features that would have high paybacks in productivity and efficiency, I would like that the hover over a template show the actual text the template generates, not the link location. I do not know about the overhead of maintaining the float dialog as a part of the template, but maybe there is a way. I will now start a thread on templates since they are so important in RCP.

Hum…the spit screen idea is possible with windows 8.1 and windows 8. Ill be willing to elaborate more if you like

I agree to this.:smiley:We surely need one…
