I was using the radomizer tool, and found this edit that was never rolled back, but the one two edits in front of it was: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Set-Up-a-Google-Personalized-Homepage&diff=7065491&oldid=7048468 We really need to step up our patrolling efforts, and inform new patrollers the basics. Can we also get this protected from anon’s, it seems high vandalizing area via history

It may have helped if you would have reverted that prior to creating this thread, especially since it’s a Featured Article.:wink:Also… most of the people who may need some assistance in patrolling don’t view the forums. I believe that the majority of the forum viewers are experienced editors who would definitely revert something like that if they encountered it. If you ever feel that an article needs to be temporarily protected, the Admin Notice Board has a section for that - http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Administrator-Notice-Board

Especially because it’s really, really recent - it’s awesome to give those whom patrolled it a head’s up and whom overseen it on their talk pages, with the specific diff links:wink:

Harsh! There’s been a few of us hunting down patrolled edits over the holidays… so I’m confused about the “tone” of the message.

It happens. I think I am a pretty good editor and it happens to me. I found one recently that it looked like it could have been missed by a major patroller. I let them/him know and that was it.

You are right, but like I said before, it happens. I feel like I am a pretty darn good editor, but I patrolled/reverted vandalism, but didn’t look close enough. The vandal was adding to previous vandalism. Reverting one, left it vandalized. I didn’t catch it. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Quit-Smoking&action=history

Wikihow is edited by people. People make mistakes. Get used to it. Wikihow is patrolled by people. People make mistakes. Get used to it.

Ha, yup–I might point out, tho, remembering a revert by BR that reverted to a vandalized page, a story that seems very similar to Teresa’s, that there might be a wormhole that needs to be checked out there.

There’s no “wormhole”, “glitch”, “bug”, etc. The vandalized edit was a legit patrol (by someone). Another edit was made. That edit was reverted (by me) which overlooked the vandalized edit. Look, if more people can communicate with others concerning patrols one-on-one, providing specific diff links, mistakes can be learned from them.

Good point @Metsguy234

The another thing about our RC app is if mistakenly double click on the “Mark as patrolled”, then it patrols the diff you are watching and the next diff in the queue. This thing is happening with a couple of times, so I have to check my every patrolled edit by watching previous edit. But some time I missed.

This double click thing also applies to NFD guardian. For this one article was deleted, but it was restored later.

I, personally, think it’s a bit insulting to assume our RC patrollers aren’t doing the best job they can simply because a mistake was made somewhere along the line.
