Not technically a bug report, but how feasible is it to modify whatever extension formats the titles to stop them un-capitalising some of the common abbreviations such as DVD, PSP etc? I know they tend to get fixed in NAB, but it’s just always been something I would have thought would be simple-ish to fix:slight_smile:

@Busbyhead just start the article from URL rather going through “Write an article” procedure. Ex: For “How to Play a DVD using VLC Media Player” go to http://www.wikihow.com/Play-a-DVD-using-VLC-Media-Player

I thought it didn’t matter how you started the article and it was changed upon submitting it to the database. Also - if it’s simple to fix, it’s not on the engineers plate or so I’ve found <.< It seems they are content with the current workaround that it’s easier for admins and NABers to change.

@IamSH I’m not so worried about when I start articles, because I can just change the title, but thanks for the tip! Suggests it’s not changed at a database level. I’m more concerned with other articles that have slipped through the net… some with quite high readership - if there was a way to do some post-processing on those it would be good

The auto-capitalization was implemented a long time ago to address another bug, where we were getting two or more articles with the same title, but with different capitalization. That was a more common problem which hasn’t existed in a while. I’m sure there’s a better way to fix it, but as Tiagoroth mentioned, it’s not a common enough issue to warrant limited engineer time, in the grand scheme of things.

That’s fair enough - it’s not a huge problem… keep prioritising the important things, definitely:wink:
