I got an e-mail saying that someone was trying to log into it all the way from Greece. I personally don’t know anyone who would do that, but why would anyone want to log into my e-mail? Is Gmail even a reliable e-mail? What do you guys have?

Hey! Whoa, that’s odd… I use Gmail and it’s pretty safe, I feel. But, I rarely use it so it might be two ways. I suggest you have a safer password and that you should never EVER share it with anyone. Take a look at these articles: http://www.wikihow.com/Protect-Your-Email-Account-from-Hackers http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Your-Gmail-Account-Safe http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Your-Passwords-Secure Hope that helps:slight_smile:

There is nothing odd about it, nor is this something you need to be tense about. The best thing you could do is turn on two step verification. There is no way a hacker can get into your account if you turn on two step verification. Hackers keep trying to access my address every other day, but none has succeeded so far thanks to two step verification. No matter how safe a password is, brute forcing will crack it someday. There is nothing called an unbreakable passwords, since everything can be cracked. Gmail is pretty safe, since it employs 128 bit encryption. However, that dies not guarantee that your account will not be hacked. Read the articles Shinako mentioned above. Your google account password should preferably be unique. Don’t use the password anywhere else. I hope you stay safe! Abhishek

Gmail password almost cannot be hacked. It only can be tricked to be revealed, or you may give it away by accident:slight_smile:

Yeah I changed my password immediately into something that not even my closest friends know, they had to be there with me to know. My mom and sister know my password but I mean like I said the person trying to log in was from Greece. I think I know who it is now.

You know it could be someone you know that is hiding their true IP through a tor program. It hides your IP by placing someone else’s IP that is on the same tor network as his own. No-one tries to hack unless they can shield their IP and DNS codes. Have your PC scanned for “phasing” programs. Good luck. Drop me a msg or email if you would like to know more or if you need some extra protection for your pc. pschutte@aluref.net

Who is it? Maybe your sis may be tricking you by logging in a fake IP

She wouldn’t I know her password and she knows mine. We read each other’s e-mails. I don’t think I should tell who it is. I only know one person who COULD have done it and apparently they stopped talking to me so… who knows. I just don’t feel right blasting them out like that.

I don’t know exactly what you mean by that…

You think that was me? LOL

Yes! You are from Greece!!! BTW, you live in Athens? My friend lives there too.

She may live in Greece, then. That may be the reason why you are getting the message about someone logging in from Greece.

LOL, when she mentioned Greece, the only name that popped up in my head was yours:wink:

Yeah, I live in Athens.

I know, me too -.-

Let’s blame the Greeks! Friends!.. Romans!.. Lend me your FIREWALL!.. LOL

Nice… Don’t worry about your account I would suggest that you download a password safe. You use one master password to open it and the idea is that it generates passwords for you. Like TOTALLY random passwords like @Vt8 />~o. This is because a computer if it is trying to hack your account then it can guess the variety of pronuncable passwords much faster than it can guess non-pronounceable passwords. Also what Abhishek said, adding two-step verification is a good idea but it is not foolproof. A computer, being able to test hundreds of passwords per second, may be able to crack a two step verification. A computer hacks better than a person.

Yeah sis, that craking technique is called Brute Force. But it’s not that quickly to crack. For example, it will take about 25 thousand (25,000) years for a PC to crack my password which consists of about 10-15 characters including uppercases, numbers and special characters, sorry for not revealing the length:stuck_out_tongue:(I’ve just checked it on howsecureismypassword.net ). And plus it’s nonsense so it’s considered the same as forever XD
