Welcome to the latest wikiHaus Lab update! Here’s what’s happening for March 30th:
What’s happening?Mini quizzes! We’re testing adding mini-quizzes as a “Comprehension Quiz” at the end of a few articles. On these articles, there’s a link to the quiz in the intro and also a quiz section underneath the article. You can see one in the wild here: 3 Ways to Answer the Phone Politely - wikiHow
What’s happening? We’re looking at the “journey” our readers go on when they come to wikiHow and how we can further help them while they’re on the site. For this experiment, we’re including a section that showcases a range of articles on a similar topic below the article steps, similar to Related wikiHows but just a little different. It’s getting lots of clicks, which is a good sign! We’ll likely build this feature out further and we might even create a widget that tracks progress throughout the series. You can see an example below and on Deal with Exam Anxiety
(logged out):
What’s happening? We’re working on new guides. Way back when, we introduced a few guides on the wikiHow App. Now we’re bringing guides back but on the main site. We’re looking at ways to offer bundled content to our readers. Although we don’t have any up just yet, you can see the test page here: wikiHow Guides
Update:The polls are still doing really well so the team is working on expanding them to more articles and potentially adding other features. These polls help make articles more interactive and readers feel like they’re a part of the site! If you haven’t already spotted one in the wild, you can check out a poll on this article: How to Talk to Anyone: 13 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow
Update:The Android app is now fully updated and should be working great for everyone!
Coming up:We’re also looking at testing a new game where people vote on whether they think an article has more or less views than another. I’ll keep you posted on when that goes live. If you have any fun ideas for wikiHow feel free to let us know!

I have a question about the Comprehension Quiz. Would it be possible to add one to How to Recycle
? Many people have trouble recycling and often throw the wrong things into it which results in a lot of it not actually getting recycled. I get a lot of letters from my trash service telling us about it and they say that a lot of things thrown into recycle gets rejected (they said that sometimes the entire truck gets rejected), and I’m sure that other’s do too. So I was thinking that it would be a good article for one of the quizzes.

Great idea, @R2_d2000
- if this feature expands I’ll definitely suggest that article on your behalf!

Hi Jayne,
Thank you for sharing this update on the latest wikiHaus Lab experiments! The addition of mini quizzes as a “Comprehension Quiz” at the end of some articles is a great way to engage readers and test their understanding of the content.
It’s also great to see that wikiHow is looking at ways to improve the reader journey and provide further help while readers are on the site. The new section showcasing a range of articles on a similar topic below the article steps seems like a great way to encourage readers to explore more content and continue learning.
It’s good to hear that this feature is getting lots of clicks and I look forward to seeing how it is developed further. Thank you for keeping us updated on the latest wikiHaus Lab experiments!
Best Regards
Olivia Devid
