You may be wondering where the Spanish, German, French, Arabic and other language forums we have are? Well, we have learned from the experience of the old forums that forums in general are not a great place to host our non-English speaking communities. The communities in languages other than English just aren’t large enough yet to make a forum active enough to be worth checking frequently. The lag time between posts on some of our other languages was weeks or months, rather than the minutes or hours we have here on English. Those forums felt “dead”. And dead forums don’t help build community. So instead of re-creating “dead” forums here, Chris is working with folks in the non-English languages to create either a mailing list or a Facebook group to allow discussion within those communities. If those communities grow dramatically (and I hope they do!) and eventually outgrow the mailing list, then we can open up a forum for them if they want one.
