About Hidden Talents
When you think of “talent,” you probably think of something like drawing, being good at math, or running a marathon. These are all “hard talents,” which are skills that are easy to see and point out. “Hidden” talents, on the other hand, are less obvious, and you may not even realize you have them! That doesn’t mean other people haven’t noticed, though. There are a lot of hidden talents, and for this quiz, we focused on 6 of the major ones. Here’s what you need to know about each of them:
CommunicatingCommunicating is one of the biggest hidden talents, and most people don’t even realize why. Well, ever feel misunderstood? Like no matter how you say something, your message isn’t getting across. You’re not alone! Good communicators, though, know exactly what to say to make other people understand them. It also helps them get along well in groups, and socialize with others.
Listening Like communicating, listening is one of those skills that many people realize is actually a skill, but it sure is! To be able to hear someone speak and read between the lines to get at what they’re actually saying, or to understand what they mean bynotsaying something, is a gift. It’s a form of empathy that helps you connect to other people, even when other people find it hard to connect.
Problem-SolvingWe’re not just talking about puzzles and math problems, but those count, too! We mean more subtle things, like how to get everything on a to-do list done in a short amount of time, or how to make a team of people who dislike each other all get along so a project goes smoothly. Problem-solvers are always looking for ways life could be easier and better, and how to make it happen.
Coming to the RescuePeople with this hidden talent are also called “helpers.” They’re always looking for ways to lend a hand and make other people’s lives easier. It can be small things, from giving someone some money for a meal, or huge things, like letting someone crash on their couch during hard times. Rescuers and helpers are all about using their resources and gifts, and giving those gifts to others.
EntertainingEntertainers aren’t just actors and actresses! They’re like the social glue that holds people together. They’re usually great at conversations, have warm and open vibes, and are just generally people that you want to spend time with. They have that X factor that makes them interesting, but also friendly and generous.
CreatingCreatives are maybe the most “obvious” of the hidden talents, but that doesn’t make them any less important. They’re artists, bakers, cooks, mechanics, engineers, crafters. They use their time and abilities to make new things, and bring beauty, joy, and just good things in general into this world.
