Fun Facts about Demon Slayer

The anime series Demon Slayer is set in a fictional world where demons roam at night feasting on human flesh. When teenager Tanjiro Kamado finds his whole family massacred except for his sister Nezuko–who’s been transformed into a demon–he resolves to avenge their deaths and find a cure to reverse his sister’s condition. He dedicates his life to protecting humans from demons and sets off to train as a slayer with an underground organization called Demon Slayer Corps. The anime follows Tanjiro on his journey, which has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world.

Series Background: Demon Slayer was originally a manga series written/illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge and published between 2016 and 2020. The manga was adapted as a 26-episode anime television series in 2019. A massively popular sequel film was released in 2020, and as of 2024, it’s still the highest-grossing anime film of all time. An 18-episode second season of the series came out in 2021, followed by an 11-episode third season in 2023. A fourth season is set for release in spring/summer of 2024.

Historical Inspiration for Demon Slayer : The story is set in the Taisho era of Japan, which spanned roughly 1912 to 1926. The early 20th century was a fast-paced time of social change and industrialization in Japan’s history, making it a fascinating setting for the plot.
