Ways to Cleanse Malachite

  1. Find an open section of soil in your yard and bury your crystal beneath the dirt. Let the malachite soak in the earth’s cleansing energy for a day or so before digging it out. [1]
    • Burying your malachite also helps recharge it with good energy.
  2. Quartz can neutralize any negative energy absorbed in your malachite. All you have to do is set the quartz crystals down in a circle on your table or countertop. Then, place your malachite in the center of the circle for 1 night. [2]

  3. Place the malachite on a slab of selenite for up to 1 day. This moon-white crystal contains a lot of cleansing and healing energy and purges negative vibes from other crystals really easily. All you have to do is cleanse your malachite with selenite for 6-24 hours—afterward, your malachite will be ready to go! [3]
    • Always cleanse your selenite regularly, especially if you’re using it to purify some of your other crystals.
  4. Ignite the end of an incense stick and fan the smoke over the surface of your malachite. As you smudge, make sure that your intentions are completely focused on cleansing and clearing the bad energy out of your crystal.
    • Dried herbs can also work well for smudging.
    • Always extinguish your incense sticks and herbs when you’re done using them. You may also want to open a window while you smudge so your living space doesn’t fill with smoke.
  5. Cover the malachite in a bowl of uncooked rice for a night. Pour some uncooked rice into a small bowl and completely bury your crystals in the grains. Leave the malachite alone for the night—afterward, it’ll be purified and ready to use again.
    • Always throw out the rice afterward! You definitely don’t want to cook and eat the rice now that it’s soaked up all of those bad vibes.
  6. Place the malachite in your palm and hold it directly below your mouth. Then, think about completely purifying and revitalizing the crystal. As you meditate on these positive thoughts, blow on the surface of the malachite to get rid of any bad vibes.
    • Breathing on your malachite also helps charge it with positive intentions.
  7. Grab a tuning fork , crystal singing bowl , or bell and create a consistent, singular tone right next to your malachite. Let the sound ring out for at least 5 minutes to completely banish any bad energy. [4]
  8. Place your malachite on an open surface where it can soak in plenty of moonlight. Then, sprinkle a ring of salt around the crystals.
    • Make sure that you’re charging your malachite under a full moon.
    • A windowsill can be a great spot for your crystals to soak in the moonlight. [5]

  1. Believe it or not, malachite is considered a fairly soft crystal—it only ranks between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs (hardness) scale. You’re better off cleansing malachite with a different method.
    • Don’t make elixirs with malachite, either, as it’s toxic to eat or drink.

How do you charge malachite?

  1. Once your malachite is fully cleansed, set it in an open space that gets plenty of direct moonlight. Just keep in mind that this works best during a full moon!
  2. Form a ring of quartz crystals on a flat surface and set your malachite in the center. If you don’t have any quartz, charge your malachite by setting it next to some tumbled stones (like hematite) instead.
  3. Place your malachite on a clear, open spot on your windowsill that gets plenty of direct sunlight. Just be careful—sunlight charging may fade the color of your malachite.
    • If you’d like to play it safe, charge your malachite using moonlight instead. [6]

  1. When your heart chakra gets blocked, you’re filled with all sorts of negative vibes in your relationships—think jealousy, commitment issues, and grieving. To help unblock this chakra, lie face-up on your back, set the malachite in the center of your chest, empty your mind, and breathe deeply. [7]
    • Some people like wearing malachite jewelry to help keep their heart chakra in good shape throughout the day.
  2. Lie face-up and place the malachite on your solar plexus chakra, which is right above your belly button. The crystal helps you heal both emotionally and physically—in fact, some believe that it can help with symptoms like cramps, asthma, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
