- If you subscribe to LinkedIn Premium, cancel your membership first to avoid future charges. [1] X Research source

Steps

Go to https://www.linkedin.com in a web browser. If you're not signed into your account, go ahead and down that now.

Cancel your Premium subscription (if you have one). If you subscribe to LinkedIn Premium, you'll want to cancel your subscription before deleting your account. To cancel LinkedIn Premium: [3] X Research source
- Click the Me tab at the top and select Access My Premium .
- Click Manage Premium account .
- Click Manage subscriptions .
- Click Cancel subscription .

Close any groups you own. If you own a LinkedIn group, you will have to delete it before you can delete your account. To delete your group: [4] X Research source
- Go to your group in LinkedIn.
- Click Edit to the right of your group.
- Click Delete this group and then Delete this group again to confirm.

Click the Me tab. It's the option with your profile photo at the top of the page. [5] X Research source A menu will expand.
- If your LinkedIn profile doesn't have a picture uploaded, this icon will be a silhouette of a person's head and shoulders.

Click Settings & Privacy on the menu.

Click the Account preferences tab. It's at the top of the left column.

Click the Account management tab. This option is near the middle of the left column.

Click Change next to "Close account." You may have to scroll down to find this option at the bottom of the right panel. [6] X Research source

Choose the reason for closing your account and click Next . You can type some details into the field if you'd like, but it's not required.

Confirm your password and click Close account . This deactivates your LinkedIn account. If you log back in within 14 days of closing your account, your account will automatically reopen. [7] X Research source
- If you just want to deactivate your account temporarily, you can log back in within 14 days.
- Deleting your account will permanently delete all endorsements, recommendations, invitations, followings, and group memberships, even if you decide to reactivate within 14 days.

- Log in to https://www.linkedin.com on a computer and go to your group.
- Click Edit next to your group.
- Click Delete this group and then click Delete this group again to confirm.

Open the LinkedIn mobile app. It's the blue icon that says "in" in white letters. You'll find it on your home screen or in your app list.
- If you aren't logged in, tap Sign In , enter your email address and password, and tap Sign In .

Tap your profile photo. You'll see it at the top of the screen. A menu will expand.

Tap Settings on the menu.

Tap Close account . Some information about closing your account will appear. If you still want to close your account, continue to the next step.

Select a reason for closing your account and tap Next . You can also enter some details about the reason you no longer want to participate in LinkedIn.

Confirm your account password and tap Done . This deactivates your LinkedIn account. If you log back in within 14 days of closing your account, your account will automatically reopen. [13] X Research source
- As long as you don't sign in again within 14 days of closing your account, your account will be permanently deleted.
- Deleting your account will permanently delete all endorsements, recommendations, invitations, followings, and group memberships, even if you decide to reactivate within 14 days.
